    I used TM and got v10.7 back.  I also used TM to get the iTunesLibrary.itl file also.  All is well except I'm getting the 'unknown error occurred (-42408)' when I enter the Store and if I try to download the free song.

    I tried:

    1.deleting ~/Library/Prefs/com.apple.iTunes.plist

    2. iTunes Store...authorize my computer.

    I think I need the 'exact' steps for removing the iTunesLibrary.itl file...and renaming one from the Previous iTunes Libraries.  Or any other fix that might be suggested.

    Thanks!

    Your not the only one buddy, same here.  I"m closely looking at what Windows 8 is like as i'm considering highly going that way.  I'm a complete Apple home with many computers and Iphone 5 and 4s and etc and now saying why would i support a company that is so screwed up and not condidering what it does to the users of APPLE.

    For you at APPLE if you read this post, what kind of idiots do you hire there to make these changes that is so backwards in time that it's virtual nonsense.  The head of that department should be fired on site and the one that replaced Steve Jobs should be demoted or send out completely.

    APPLE (iTunes) you really screwed up  bad on this one.

    To what?

    The abortion called Windows 8?

    To Android which has a whole host of problems of its own?

    These days everything is getting crappy no matter where you go.

    Adding that I too find it an inexplicable travesty. Hopefully I will be free of it within the next half hour as I follow the post on macrumors and erase every trace of its presence.

    Found the show sidebar and that helps. Where is "Show Status Bar"? Also, how do I show cover flow?

    jmvUSA...I highly recommend that you start your own thread.  This one has turned into mostly complaints.

    If you are going back to iTunes 10.7 from 11, do not back up the iTunes library first because it is apparently formatted differently between the two versions. I followed all the steps and got back version 10.7 but it could not open my library at all. So I had to go back to version 11. I will not update to iOS6 because it doesn't get very good reviews from users. My biggest complaint about version 11? It will not sync my contacts and calendar with my iPhone 5! That's crazy!

    And whenever I search for a song, it only searches in the iTunes program, not in the connected iPod. This *****.

    Your iTunes folder should have a folder inside it called Previous iTunes Libraries. Take the most current one from that folder that you used with iTunes 10.7, copy it to the main iTunes folder and rename the file "iTunes Library.itl". In general, the complete restore path is:

    Did you uninstall iTunes 11 and replace it with iTunes 10.7? If so, you'll need to go through a few steps to put things right:

    1. Rename "iTunes Library.itl" to some other name;
    2. Copy newst ITL file from the "Previous iTunes Libraries" folder into your main iTunes folder and rename it to "iTunes Library.itl";
    3. Download iTunes 10.7: http://appldnld.apple.com/iTunes10/041-7195.20120912.d3uzQ/iTunes10.7.dmg
    4. Download/install shareware app called Pacifist;
    5. Open Pacifist and, separately, mount iTunes DMG file -- drag iTunes PKG file into Pacifist and install iTunes via the Pacifist application -- be sure to answer yes to replacing everything Pacifist asks about;
    6. Enjoy iTunes 10.7.

    Cheers,
