Experiencing same problems like others with my iPhone 5. I have tried to restore network settings, wifi works for few seconds then the phone loses the connection. All along my latest ipad 4 with the same iOS has no problems connecting to the same network.

I upgraded all my apple hardware, for my South Asia trip. I live in San Diego, but right now I am in northern Thailand en route to Burma on a volunteering mission.  I am really really FURIOUS at apple. There seems to be no apple store not in Bangkok either. iPhone 5 is my primary camera for this trip. How do I share my pics with others if wifi does not work? Data roaming is prohibitively expensive.

Apple you owe me big time.

I just solved the issue at least at my house, where I can get by without dynamic assignment. You have to set your iOS device to connect using 'Static' IP assignment.

Keys appear to be as follows:

    1. Inside your network, your router uses a range of DHCP addresses, mine was between 2 and 49 on the end of the IP range. Most home routers this is through  The router is, (Usually. If you changed this all this is just example)

    2. You manually connect by selecting the arrow left in the iOS screen, not the center of the network button which will try to connect you.

    3. Change to 'Static', then enter in the information like I did with the attached image. (Again, your actual IP address may be different)

When I did this I was able to add my iPhone 5 and my iPhone 4 both with iOS 6.0.1, where before they would both fail to connect reliably.  This is clearly an Apple bug with iOS 6 and possibly also the iPhone 5.2012-12-09 09.03.58.png

This is no real sollution. dhcp is supposed to work correctly on the iphone 5. you'll just face the problem somewhere else.

It solves my immediate issue at home, thats it. Of course we need Apple to fix the DHCP issue, but for those who are TOTALLY HOSED, hopefully this helps a bit.

Also had the same issue with Iphone5 "unable to connect" to my wi-fi.  Returned the phone after speaking with senior advisor at Apple.  Got a new phone and at the moment it is working fine.  The salesman at the store said not to connect to my computer as when it connects it seems to download an update automatically that causes this problem connecting to wi-fi.  I upgraded from the iphone4 and would like to sync with my computer but I am reluctant to do so after reading about all the issues with wi-fi.  Can anyone suggest how I can get my music from itunes without syncing with the computer?  Is this the issue???  Not sure does anyone have the answer?  I was able to get most of my old data over the icloud but not music.

I am hoping Apple is working on this problem. I am quite disappointed in this new phone although I am an avid Apple user (ipad, ipod, laptop, etc.)

This is getting so silly, yet another excuse.  Apple admit to the problem and fix it!!!

Merry XMAS Apple and thanks for the dud iphone 5, sorry the second dud iphone 5, when are you going to start sending out fee data credit to all us poor guys who can't upload photos or use email at work or download apps and app updates through WIFI. Maybe if Telstra in Australia gave out unlimited data I wouldn't be so upset. thanks alot! and merry XMAS.

$1000(aus) what a waste! of money.

To Jacobscott: If you have Iphone 4S or Iphone 5 with IOS6 AND you have Netgear WiFi product; It has been pointed out that you might be required to downgrade/upgrade your WiFi devices firmware.

Its an IOS 6 issue across the board, though you're routers firmware might require attention, consult your WiFi Vendor for assistance.

Otherwise, if they cant help, its time to bite the bullet and buy yourself a new one for home if that is that case.

If its work related and you dont have control over the IT Infrastructure, you have limited chances for a company to make a change just for yourself having WiFi issues

As for Cafes, hotels etc etc etc, again you'd have limited control over it

Unless of course you have a loud voice that can be heard ?

We all know what the problem is, if its an Iphone 5, slim chance its a FAULTY Phone, or maybe the NEW Ipad as well, im not sure; However.. any devices such as Iphone 4S or earlier and the Ipads as well have communication issues with respect to IOS 6

Long story short, everyone has to sit tight and wait to hope for a miracle or buy yourself a new Wireless Device, take a chance and buy a new model of what you have or an alternative brand, atleast Wireless Vendors are more reasonable with Refunds if you cant get it working ?

Good luck trying to get a refund on an Apple device, might have to jump through hoops like a show dog before that happens.

I have the same wifi problem. But my problem turned put to be bigger than wifi issue cos I went to the Singtel service centre and they told me they couldn't find my serial number plate inside when they open up the phone. How would I know I need to check and open the phone when I received my new iPhone 5? If so, apple and Singtel should inform the consumer so that we can check before we accept out new phone.

Anyway, all Singtel can do is to reset my phone but can't confirm if my wifi issue is resolved as they normally replace the phone, or so I was told by the service lady.  Now, Singtel can't help me cos my iPhone is considered a tempered product. I received the phone from Singtel by renewing my contract for goodness sake. In what way had I did wrong to be in this situation?

Just go to Settings App > General > About. You can find you serial no. there. It's 12 characters.

As you were saying they replaced your phone, does it means you got a new replacement. If that's the case, there might be a misunderstanding. Anyway, they won't open up the phone, literally. unless, you are talking about turning the power on and off.
