I am running IOS 6.0.1. I went to the Apple Store in Regents St, London and though one of the 'helpers' admitted it was an IOS 6 / Iphone 4S issue, the large bearded 'genius' tried to blame it on my usage of the device.

In a true face palm moment, he suggested I tried 'turning the phone functions off' as a long term strategy to conserve battery life.

OH MY GOODNESS.

What a genius !

Before I arrived I was aware that if I switched everything off I would no longer have any battery problems, but I avoided that course of action, as I would also not have a working phone.

Despite many attempts, I could not persuade him how beautifully stupid his suggestion was. It was then suggested that perhaps I buy one of those rather ugly battery/protective case mash ups they sell downstairs. I asked if Apple would provide me one free of charge seeing as the phone I purchased in April 2012 was now no longer fit for purpose.

I have bought and used Apple products since my dad bought a second hand Apple II back in the day. I have had every one of them. My current fleet includes a Macbook Air, iPad, iPod Touch, and the iPhone (which should be called iPhoney as without a viable power source it cannot really call itself a phone).

Based on the attitude of the 'genius' and his apparent disinterest in my plight, I am sorely tempted to look over the fence and see what other manufacturers can do for me.

Disillusioned and disengaged. It felt like I had wandered into a Dixons / Comet superstore. Not the retail temple / embassy of the world's foremost consumer tech business.

Does anyone know how to cure this ? I have tried EVERYTHING.
