no, my account is a standard account and it works, the other account is also standard and the other is an admin account but the last two do not work; my account was the first account that had iPhoto launched with, it existed before the other standard account and the admin account....
true a hdd would be better, but I hate to have to get more storage and extra peripheral to 'fix' this issue, i have a 2TB time capsule...

Did you use Fast User switching to go to the other accounts and try to setup the volume in the Startup items preference pane? If so did you dismount the volume in your primary account before switching accounts. If not do so and see if that makes a difference in the volume's accessability in the Login in Items window..
If that's the case You may have to have a separate volume for each user on the server.

i was only logged in as one of the users, one of two that doesn't work; thanks for your help, i am concerned that separate volumes is a something to try, but how to keep each volumes in sync across each other?
at this point I considered this unfixable, bug/issue - I'll just have to use Disk Utility to mount for each account....thx
