Why not? What happens when you try? Do you get any error messages when you plug in the iPod or try to sync it with your iTunes library?  Does iTunes even see the iPod?  Need a lot more information in order to assist you.

What have you tried so far in terms of troubleshooting this issue?  Are you plugging the iPod into a high powered USB 2.0 port on the back of your PC? Have you tried a different USB cable?

What happens if you try to reset the device with it still connected to the PC?

    How to reset iPod

Has this iPod ever worked on this PC or is this the first time you have time you have tried connecting it?

Have you carefully worked through each and every single suggestion in this Apple support document?

iPod not recognized in 'My Computer' and in iTunes for Windows

What has changed with the PC or iPod since the last time you remember being able to sync properly?  Could be something such as an upgrade to some piece of software, a reconfiguration or reload on your PC, etc.

have spent 2 days settng up itunes library.  After restoring my ipod nano 7th generation many times, trying 4 usb ports, upgrading to itunes V11.  I still cannot syc my library to the ipod.  have tried all solutions given over the net and in non up to date user guides.  Very confusing given guides are not even updated to the latest versions of itunes or the new ipod nano.  This is the first Apple product i have bought!  Mmmmm.  Any more ideas anyone please!

Hi planb77...I have a problem with 7th gen Nano.  I have just connected it and it won't synch with library.  I have been using a 3rd gen nano up till now.

I have reinstalled iTunes, reset the ipod, it is recognised by my computer and I have used autofill to transfer music to my new Nano but it won't work with podcasts etc.

    I am on Windows 7

    Any ideas?

Same prob here.  My new iPod Nano, 7th generation won't sync to my existing iTunes Library.  My previous ipod syncs fine. Here's what happened. I connected my new one using USB port on my PC (os Windows 7).  I then followed the onscreen instructions. I registered it, and updated the iPod software, and then I got to the sync step.  I pressed the sync button several times and it would not sync.  I did not get any error message. iTunes does recognize it as a device.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Just a simple reminder to check all the ipod menus (photo, music, podcast, etc.) if the "sync" option is selected/ticked. All of these are not selected by default. So first check these menu and select accordingly then perform the sync again. Cheers!

I don't see where sync is an option to be selected or deselected.  I looked under settings for music, photo, etc. and I don't see any such option.  Are you sure you're talking about the 7th gen iPod?

To all those frustrated out there syncing the ipod nano.  When you connect your ipod for syncing, you will see an icon (top right hand side) of screen.  Click on this button, NOT on the arrow, but the word 'ipod'.

This will bring up a new screen with options across the top.  Click on  'music'.  This is where you actually check all your preferences for syncing your songs.  By default, they are all unchecked.  Yes, i agree with you all.  There is no adequate information on the help line nor the manuals.  It took me to find a twenty something year old person who worked it out in a flash.

Finally, you click on the arrow to disconnect the ipod BEFORE you physically disconnect your ipod.

    Hope this helps!

Thanks Bleepbleep!!  And please thank your twenty something guru friend!  I sometimes wish Mr. Jobs had never uttered the phrase, "It just works". (ha).

    Thanks again!
