Q: Potential malware - how do I see if it is?

I accidentally clicked on a link for a UPS email that was a scam.  When I returned the next day I received a message saying that the copying of my hard drive was halted.  A few days later I received a message that my hard drive was in use and had been renamed.  Is this a virus or malware?  If so how do I scan to see if it is and how do I remove it?

Besides the 2 messages PC is working fine.

MacBook Pro, OS X Mountain Lion

When the link opened your browser (Safari or whatever you use), did you supply any information?

Can you describe how these messages appeared?

Has your hard disk in fact been renamed? The usual default name is "Macintosh HD".
