Ever since I upgraded to iOS 6 I've been unable to  sync my calendar. Events created on my MacBook (iCal, OS X 10.6.8) will upload to iPhone, but nothing created on the phone appears on the laptop. Frequently events are duplicated on the phone rather than being updated.

In addition, many "all day" repeating events that were created _long_ ago on iCal become one hour events on iPhone's calendar.

This occurs whether I connect via wifi or USB. I'm not using iCloud.

I'm operating fully within the Apple ecosystem and iOS fails to sync with the Mac OS. If the calendars won't sync, a HUGE function of iPhone is missing, and the device is lacks a major part of its functionality.

On occasion I've been able to sync once, usually by exporting iCal events, removing all iCal prefs, and then rebuilding my calendar. The next sync would work. Usually. But I don't think this is quite what was intended…

Contacts, Mail and other apps sync. Does anyone else experience this problem with their calendars?

Thank you.

On I mac, turn off the calendar in settings and turn back on

I'm sorry; I'm not sure I understand what you're suggesting.

In the Mac's System Preferences (there's nothing named Settings in OS X), iCal or Calendar is nowhere to be found. OTOH, I can go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars on the iPhone's iOS. But I don't see a way to "turn off" the calendar there.

I've tried quitting the applications and rebooting the MacBook and iPhone.

Could you please clarify what you're suggesting? Thank you.

I have the same problem since updaten to iOS 6.0.1

Do You already have a solution for that problem?

Ok, I solved it... It seems so...

Turn of iCal-Sync in iTunes, create a backup of your calendar-data in iCal on Mac OS, restore iCal from this backup, turn on iCal-Sync on iTunes again

Since then I'm abble to create and change events on iOS and they are taken over by iCal!

    Thank you R2n2!

In my case it did not work in the same way ... but YOUR post helped me to solve it (after some 2 or 3 months of (//&%$%&%$)

My iCal on my Mac (OS X 10.6.8 (10K549) did not create the archive properly ... it had 0kB ...

    So I just:

    1. turned off iCal-Sync in iTunes

    2. Synchronised with iPhone iOS6

--> all Calender Data on the iPhone was deleted

    3. turned on iCal-Sync in iTunes again

    4. Synchronised again with the iPhone

    That's it - that's all!

    Poooh.

    'm happy!

    THANKS!

But what if I had added events to my iPhone calendar & will lose them by deleting the Calendar data on the iPhone)?  I have to delete all my iPhone calendar data & trust that it will restore from iCal on the MacBook Pro?  In my case, I upgraded from an older MacBook to a MacBook Pro & was trying to do the first time sync with my existing iPhone to the new MacBook Pro.

I tried it & it kept all of the original data on the iPhone & didn't update anything from the phone to the laptop.  The item I'd moved on the phone was still on the old date on the laptop.

Any other suggestions?  I have all calendars checked in iTunes.

What steps did you follow to create the backup of the calendar on the Mac?

I just want to have events that I add or change on my iPhone to sync & update on my laptop - like they used to with my old MacBook!

Thanks Regton I have tried all solutions, only your entry helps ; )

    1. turned off iCal-Sync in iTunes

    2. Synchronised with iPhone iOS6

--> all Calender Data on the iPhone was deleted

    3. turned on iCal-Sync in iTunes again

    4. Synchronised again with the iPhone

In my case all deleted calender entries of my iphone were recovered by the final sync.

I have a slightly different challenge with calendar syncing between iPhone 4 and iCal.  In general, the sync seems to be fine with the exception of ANNUALLY RECURRING events (ie: birthdays) NOT synching/not appearing on my iPhone.  I can see them fine in iCal but not on my phone.  I have tried the above posted solution that worked for several users on this thread but I still can't seem to sync the annually recurring events.  Anyone able to help??

    Thanks!

Thanks, I tried ALL of the above, BUT found no success.

I went through all the avenues to avoid paying $19 + tax for an Apple service call, and I will share my issue and solution here. I did all the removing of the calendar, resyncing and still had no calendar on my iPod.

The last time this happened, I believe it was an issue with the installer file. I think the Senior Tech just wanted to make sure it didn't happen ever again.

This time, I talked with a normal IT Tech (for free), after waiting some time, she came back and asked me to reset my iPod. For those of you that need the step-by-step here it is (mine is an iPod Classic 120 GB):

    - Move the lock button back and forth, until you see the display change from lock to unlock

    - Hold down Menu button and middle circular button (I guess you can call this the ENTER button) simultaneously until Apple  logo appears in middle of screen (and nothing else)

    - Wait a matter of moments until the screen comes back with your menu items, icons, etc.

    - Check to verify calendar is there.

If the other options above don't work, this is the next step. Save yourself $20 and try this first.

Good advice (that I am going to try in the future): just reset your iPod every month or two, and avoid all the hassle I had!

    Good luck!
