Firstly, I posted this under Snow Leopard because for some reason, Mail was not an option to select under Applications.

This issue is more of an annoyance than anything else.  Occasionally, Mail will randomly ask for my password.  Sometimes after trying to open mail after the computer being asleep, sometimes from trying to send new messages, etc... completely random.  My passwords are already all saved in the Keychain.  It is linked to a Gmail account.  More specifically, I can actually trigger the problem by using the bounce feature  in my Spam folder.  It will create a dialogue box seemingly for each message I've bounced.  If I select one and bounce, it only asks me once, if I select 50 messages and bounce them all, it will make be cancel out the dialogue box 50 times etc...  re-entering my password upon prompting doesn't fix anything.

Does anyone know what is causing this or how to fix it?

I'm using Mail 4.6

2 GHz Intel Core Duo, Mac OS X (10.6), 1.5 GB RAM
