I had a major hard drive failure recently and had to copy my files from an older backup. Now I can't get iMovie to show any of the sound effects, or my iTunes music, or any of the photos in iPhoto. How do I fix this??

    step #1

    iTunes/iPhoto do recognize their libraries?

    step #2

    • quit iMovie
    • in Finder, hold down the alt-key and select under GoTo 'Library'
    • open the Preferences folder
    • search for any files named 'com.apple.iMoviexxx.plist' (xxx=app, or 08, or any other number)
    • drag this file(s) to trash
    • relaunch iMovie

    not really ...

iMovie is located in your Apps-folder (not in some sub-folder or other drive)?

you did the usual Mac-Voodoo, PRAM-reset, repairing permission ... ?

… I'm wondering if I should try trashing iMovie and reinstalling it from the original OS-installer disk. However I don't know if this might cause me to lose any of my Event or Project files. (Not sure I can still find that disk either, but it must be here somewhere.)

… I'm storing my original installer disks same place: somewhere

installing from original is best pratice.

doesn't 'hurt' your existing Projects&Events, they are kept untouched.

fingers crossed, this will finally solve your problem!
