Anyone know when Apple is going to get this map app of theirs working properly.  The changeover has been around for a few months and I have seen many upgrades to many apps but not a one for maps.  You would think they would at least do something.  I know, the more used the better it is supposed to be but actually for me right nowit is worse. I have sent my location in 5 times over the course of the last month (using the report function) and it still shows teh same wrong place.  Yesterday the map had me go down a one way street the wrong way.  Also, the associated apps for transit just don't work.  I live in San Francisco of all places and to go 2 blocks it told me to go to Berkeley, and take Bart back then take MUNI to my location.   This is really dissppointing.  I have enough problems with the "new" FCPX then to have this.

Nobody here would know.  Will have to wait until Apple announce it.

I have seen some updates done on the server end. I think the Maps app itself is ok, just the data that was used need to change.

I have reported numerous POI location errors in my area over a month ago and nothing has been updated yet. I wonder how long it takes before POI's are updated.

Updates are emerging in Maps, very encouraging I must say.

There was a delay of several weeks, but some very local errors in Maps if reported have been fixed:

    a) section of local road shown does not exits,

    b) Freeway access wrong: must go under freeway, and take slip road loop north to go south [was previuosly shown as an impossible turn right.

    c) walking paths in a local bush reserve are now included, are accurate, and reflected correctly in MapMyRun

Nice work Apple, keep it up.

I encourage Users to continue to provide feedback, the guy and girls are responding, just give them a liitle more time.

I also found a work around:

When seeking directions to a country town in Outback Western Australia, Maps, for some very strange reason, has the town location marked way off target [often in the middle of the desert]

Simply enter "Local Town Name Post Office" and bingo, you end up really in the middle of town.

Even Google based Apple Maps and TomTom often did not do that well either.

If you used a Go Via instruction, it would occassionally take you on a strange loop around the back streets of town?

Please use common sense and do not drive the wrong way down a 1 way street. ANY GPS program can be wrong at times. Even google maps has taken me to the wrong locations at times.

My maps experience has been rather lack luster to be honest, I can't even find places in London anymore.  Guess I'll be bringing out the S3 more often now.

...And may I suggest to Apple, please don't put anything out before its time...

I wonder why you are pointing the finger at Apple? Google Maps and YouTube where both removed when iOS 6 was released. The way I see it nobody at Apple forced anybody to update their iOS or buy an iPhone 5. That was all personal choice and personal responsibility is seriously lacking these days. Second the iOS 6 came just after Apple won a big patent infringement lawsuit against Samsung, Goolge's leading distributer of the Android OS. I don't know if you are aware that Google owns YouTube, Android and obviously Google Maps. Did you stop to think that maybe, just maybe Google decided to stop licensing the software to Apple and so they had to make the change?

Google Apple and all of them for that matter have profit margins as their MO...

...I am a total Apple fan but it appears to me that the early days of Apple were focused on giving the customer what they wanted, not putting company profits over those of its users.

This contradicts itself. Would you please clearify?

And yes, Google could have stopped licensing the map app but did you ever stop to wonder why?  It takes two to tango.

Yes I did. Apple sued Samsung and Google got mad. It does take two to tango. I thought I explained that.

As far as a personal choice?  I don't think so in some terms.

As I said "Personal responsibility is seriously lacking these days"

I upgraded when necessary and now own a 4S.  When the new OS came out, the dang option to carry Google Maps was removed NOT MY CHOICE.

It was your choice to update the iOS. Back to the personal responsibility.

Knowing how much I use the maps feature I was almost considering switching to Samsung or something that worked.

Right, I don't believe that for a second.

This is the end of the discussion since this was not intended to be a site for this type of discussion.

You're right that is the end of the discussion considering you can't take responsibility for your actions without pointing finger because you don't like the results. You chose to update the iOS, no one else, you did that. Take responsibility for your actions
