How is it formatted?

Dec 16, 2012 9:59 PM in response to Allan Eckertby 880Tacoma,Thx. I did not format new hard drive. Followed instructions for restoring a backup made by a Mac to the same Mac. Used both command + R as well as OSx install disk.
