I am in Canada, but the books just needed to be in by the 14th so I more than made the deadline. Very disappointing, I have ordered books for the last 7 years, and this the first time I have ever had a problem.
We are still on hold, they are now saying it was a text alignment issue, problem with that is that I had not put any text in the book.

what does your preview show?
Before ordering your book preview it using this method - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1040 - and save the resulting PDF for reference - the delivered book will match it.

We are still on the phone with apple, nearing one hour. It is not a text issue, after all. It seems that the printer decided to cancel the order. The cover of the book has a black part on the back and the photo wraps around to about half way on the back and and is black after that point. I knew it did that and wanted it that way. The program allowed me to design it that way. I previewed it and liked the way it looked.
The printer decided it wasn't correct and cancelled the order. We are still working out what to do. We moved up the chain of command. I am not sure why they told us initially that it was due to a backlog. Had we not pushed on we would not have know that the cover was a problem and would have sent the book back the same way.
The issue they are seeing with the book is not visible on the preview you can do prior to ordering

If you preview the way I suggested you should see everything exactly the way it will print as I said

Thanks, but I did preview the way you suggested. It was correct. Apple messed up and canceled the order because they decided my design choice was a mistake when it was not. You can see the cover below. They thought there was a mistake with the black area at the right of the picture, but that is the flap and goes around the book.
They have resubmitted the same upload because they were wrong. We have received a reasonable discount with free expedited shipping and hope to see by Christmas eve.
Still not happy that the only reason I knew about the cancellation was because I checked my account, and that we were told originally it was due to a backlog. Oh well, hopefully the books will make it in time.

Apple is cancelling orders because they are unable to meet their shipping obligations. I received the following message today, four days after ordering a calendar...
Apple discovered an issue with the file you submitted. It appears the calendar has small month names. As a result, Apple is unable to process your order and you will not be charged.
Small month names...what does that even mean? May?? Mind you the calendar showed no alert icons when I was creating it, nor did I receive any errors when submitting it. I only received an e-mail today notifying me that my job had been cancelled. Being notified of this four days after I submitted it is completely unacceptable, especially since there is no problem with the calendar as it was submitted.

The same way it looked when I previewed it at the time of the order submission...perfect. On the phone with Apple now for an hour and ten minutes and counting... What have I found out? Nothing. Print services has reviewed the order, said they could see no problems with it and also claimed never to have seen the error message sent to me...which sounds about right, given that the error doesn't turn up a single entry in a Google search of it. I suspect in the end they will offer a lame apology, tell me I got screwed and suggest I resubmit the order.

Same issue here x 2
I ordered my first one in November and a few days later got the error email. I didn't see it for over a week and I went back and did the steps in the email resubmitted a few days ago. Yesterday I get the same email again. This is REAL disappointing.

Here is a workaround that was found by jdelisle: https://discussions.apple.com/message/20515825#20515825
Hopefully this can save Christmas for a few folks around here!

Nancy N, I just got the small month names email too (evening of December 18! Ha!).
There is a phone number for Apple Print Services?
The phone number I called was 800-676-2775, which is the Apple Store Customer Service number. Initially I spoke to a customer service adviser, who contacted someone in Print Services. They couldn't identify a problem or even knew what the "small month names" error was. Eventually they tossed me over to someone in iPhoto tech support and finally after I'd had enough (the call lasted 90 minutes) they transferred me back to a supervisor in Print Services.
The supervisor reviewed the calendar page by page and claimed that he had found the problem...that one of the "mini months" (where the prior and next months appear at the bottom of the page) had a font size about four times too large and it was cut off. The problem is, I'd saved the PDF preview of my upload and that preview looked perfectly normal. We guessed that something had gone amiss during the upload, even though I'd received no upload errors. The Print Services supervisor stayed on the line while I re-uploaded the calendar a second time without making a single change. He then reviewed it once it was received and this time, everything appeared normal. Because I'd expressed disappointment that I wouldn't have this by Christmas, they knocked 50% off the price and expedited the shipping. I doubt it will arrive by Christmas, but at least I know what the problem was and that I wasn't crazy and had done everything correctly. Any potential "fixes" suggested here and in other threads about switching themes back and forth would have had no effect on this issue.

The mini-month is what happened to me. And, thats the phone number I ended up calling. The (very nice) Apple person eventually saw that February and April were different font-weights in the mini-months of my PDF. I'm sure my mother would have tolerated that horrifying font-descrepency in favor of the grand children pictues, but the fragile print guy knows best.
She didn't seem to have any idea about how to contact "print services", so all I could do was re-upload. Like yours it won't be on time.
