Q: Cannot get iMac G3 to read DVDs

I have an iMac G3 (600 MHZ) but I am having trouble getting my LaCie DVD burner to read DVDs. I am trying to use it with a FireWire to FireWire cord. Nothing happens when I pop in a DVD. Do I need to install some sort of driver? How do I get this to work?

The problem may be a driver issue.    Contact LaCie support and ask them if they have one for the operating system in question.  Note, DVD burning capability is very limited in pre-G4/733 Macs, as the encoding for movies in iDVD wasn't able to work on anything slower.    But for burning just plain data to DVD, you should in theory be able to do so.
