I'm just a beginner, but I finally managed to build a table without any problems. I sent the table to a Yahoo group I belong to, and I just got my  first response: he couldn't open the file. Is Numbers considered to be a temperamental program? Can it be opened on PCs as well as Macs? What are some of the likely reasons he couldn't open my file? By the way, when I went to that site just now, I was able to open my file with absolutey no problems, and quickly, too.

By far, the most likely reason is that you didn't export the document to a PC readable format, either Excel or PDF.

    Niku,

I should have mentioned CSV format as well. Numbers files aren't designed to be opened directly on a PC. It's a sort of one-way compatibility. Numbers can open Excel files, but Excel can't open Numbers files. That's why we have to convert the Numbers format to something else for our PC friends.

    Niku,

Macs can open most (common) Windows files. It's MS apps that don't go to the trouble of providing code for opening Mac app files.

My guess is that the library has Macs in that case.
