Please put iTunes back together. I'm not upgrading past 10.7 until you do.

****, I'm not upgrading beyond Snow Leopard till such time as I either have no other choice or Apple stops trying to turn OS X into iOS.

I agree. I was seriously looking at some iMac, NAS etc. All from Apple Store. The project stopped when I saw what they have done with iTunes.

    Same here.

I was actually looking to purchase my very first mac. Even my iphone was given to me.

If this is the norm after xmas i'll be investing my xmas money in HP,Panasonic,Sony or lenovo.

Glad i caught on to apple's little scheme before i dropped a dime on free advertisements for them.

Next quarters and quarters to come i see apple reporting losses and no gains. Shortly after investors will feel the pinch, questions will be asked and heads will roll.

For me apple is simply no more until coverflow comes back to itunes and the ambient light sensor returns to the ipod.

PS: Songbird coupled with mediaflow are so refreshing! everyone here should check that out!

hi Trane, Crille, DJ & everybody else who shares the same ''allergic feelings'' towards iTunes11 !

at the risk of repeating myself & becoming boring, PLEASE DON'T FORGET to pass on your comments about iTunes11 to Apple themselves here :

    http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunesapp.html

that's the only way we might get back the features that matter to us, iTunes users & of course, nothing like lost sales to make a powerful case...

    cheers

I've been telling them this and some more on that channel and I agree that we must spread the message.

Yep. Me, too. I'm quick to commend them on what I think they've done right (e.g., reintroducing colour into the sidebar icons) and letting them know beyond any doubt when I think they've dropped the ball. They probably got half-a-dozen messages from me regarding dual monitor support under Lion. And when iTunes 11 didn't register (that I could see) my movie rentals, I created a support ticket and voiced my opinion of the new version there, too.

So they managed to mess up the best remedy for the CF removal (Cover Stream) with the 11.0.1 update too!!! Unbeliveable! Thanks a million!

Why do you keep editing this post?

There is nothing untruthful here. Apple IS advertising it's 13in MacBook Pro on British television and clearly demonstrating Coverflow as part of the package.

This is the TV commercial in question...

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HfiJOP2uGk4

Also truthful is the fact that I have reported Apple to the UK Advertising Standards Authority for advertising a feature on UK television at a time when that feature is deemed no longer available by Apple. It is misleading and as such possibly in breach of UK advertising regulations.

None of this is untrue, none of it malicious and none of it rude or offensive. So on what grounds are you repeatedly choosing to eradicate the truth by editing my posts and deleting the salient points of the post?

Well I've had a response from the UK ASA. Apple have now pulled the commercial from UK TV...

YOUR COMPLAINT ABOUT APPLE (UK) LTD

Thank you for contacting us.  I understand from your complaint that you feel the Apple’s ad for their MacBook Pro is misleading because it depicted the Cover Flow feature that you understand is no longer available with iTunes.

We contacted the advertiser about this matter.  They stated that the ad in question was no longer on air in the UK and they said as a result of this complaint they would not be broadcasting the ad again in its current form.

With the advertiser’s assurance that the ad will not appear again in its current form, we consider there is no further action required and will not be looking into the matter any further.

We will list Apple (UK) Ltd on our website on 16 January in the “informally resolved cases” section, alongside the other advertisers who have agreed to changes following ASA complaints.

Thank you again for taking the time to raise your concerns with us.  If you would like more information about our work, please visit our website,www.asa.org.uk

Apple Lost a lawsuit from Mirror Worlds, a software business started by a Yale University computer-science professor David Gelernter, claimed that Apple’s Cover Flow and Time Machine display methods infringed on its patents, and was awarded $208.5 million in damages for each of the patents infringed.

    See more here: http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/news/comments/apple-loses-challenges-cover-flow -related-lawsuit/

This could have a lot to do with it.

Apple has asked U.S. District Judge Leonard Davis for an emergency stay of the verdict, claiming that there are outstanding issues with two of the three patents, and also claimed Mirror Worlds would be “triple-dipping” if it were to collect the full $208.5 million for each of the three patents.

That verdict was overturned way back in 2011, so I'm not at all convinced that the Mirror Worlds suit is relevant to the issue. I think it's far more likely that Apple is just going about its usual business of deciding what you want when you want it and not giving you any credible explanation or choice in the matter.
