Updated my iPhone 5 to 6.0.2 last night, hoping it would fix my 'Unable to join network' errors, but no luck.

I almost bought a Samsung SIII, but finally decided to stick with Apple. I should've followed my first intuition.

At least, I can pick up WiFi at work. Not sure what router we have, but the one from home is a NetGear 108 Mbps Wireless Firewall Router WGT624 v3. Anyone else uses this router and found a way to connect their iPhone 5 through WiFi.

I see frustration on the horizon...........

New fix just issued by Apple within the last half hour. I've installed the update - let's see if that takes care of it.

You know, the irony in all of this is that by releasing this update which seems like it's only partially resolved the problem, they've actually drawn more attention to the problem. Hopefully that's good for us in the long run.

My own personal experience since upgrading to iOS 6.0.2 has been inconsistent.

    • My speed on Speedtest.net iOS App varies depending on which server I use.
    • Testmy.net always gives me very slow results on my iPhone - always less than 1Mbps.
    • The FCC's broadband app's speed test also varies depending on which server I use.
    • Traffic Monitor iOS App consistently gives me slow results - always less than 1Mbps
    • Downloading an album on my iPhone from iTunes - 10 songs, standard size - several MB per song. Some download in seconds; some crawl but when paused and resumed, download quickly, sometimes after a couple of pauses.
    • Downloading Apps - same as iTunes, some download very quickly but not always; inconsistent

Overall: At least in my case it seems to have helped some but that's not saying much. I never had any issues connecting to Wi-Fi and my signal has always been fine. General browsing and other internet dependent functions seem somewhat better. Time will tell. I'm going to try doing a complete restore of iOS from iTunes later today.

Where did you find this? What kind of "fix" is it - 6.0.3? Carrier setting update? Software Update on my phone says at 6.0.2 I'm already up-to-date as does iTunes. None of the Mac sites are saying anything about this either.

There is a known problem with the Netgear WGT624 v3. An error was introduced into the latest firmware for that router which prevents it working with iOS 6. downgrading the firmware will fix your problem.

"Anyone having the same problem I have found the solution, downgrade your netgear firmware version to 2.0.21 and it works fine then, you can download the version from here:

    http://downloadcenter.netgear.com/en/product/WGT624v3

Look in the Firmware/Software box at the right and on the very bottom of the list you will see the 2.0.21 version. Download it and unzip it.

Log into your router and under maintenance, perform a Router Upgrade. Let it go through the upgrade and you’re all set."

Got the update notice like I usually do from Apple. Said it was to fix the wifi issue under 6.0.2 so I uploaded. Hadn't been able to find home wifi since yesterday. Shut down and restarted - wifi now showing. We shall see.

I just downloaded 6.0.2 and now cannot connect to wifi at all.

Before wifi was slow and would drop videos etc. I put phone six inches from access to download "fix" and now nothing.

So it sounds like this IS the 6.0.2 update and you're just now updating to it OR are you saying you already had 6.0.2 and this is an additional update OR are you not really sure. I'm not trying to be rude at all - just looking for clarification because you said it was released "within the last half-hour" and 6.0.2 was released almost 24 hours ago. Thanks!

Already had updated previously to 6.0.2 - this update was to the 6.0.2 - was new notification which indicated it was a fix for the wifi issue.

To anyone thinking the SIII will solve your WiFi issues it may or may not depending on the problem.  I picked up a new SIII a day after I returned the IP5, while the SIII would stream and not drop out like the IP5 its range was worse than the IP5.  I really wasnt concerned with the IP5 range, but the constant dropping out was annoying at best - especially since the IP4 didnt do it.

I returned the SIII this morning, cost me 35.00 at the AT&T store to try it for a couple days, its an OK phone but way too busy for me, you can watch the battery drain on LTE, its pretty large plus way too much Google involved.  Fast processor and huge screen though, but I'll stick with the iPhone.  I'll pick up another IP5 in a few months if it all gets straightened out, except for the WiFi I really liked it - just didnt want to get locked into a 2 year contract while waiting for a fix.

Interesting. Who's your carrier and where did you see the update - I assume on the phone? Was it under "Software Update" on the phone? I'm using a Verizon 16GB iPhone and in neither Software Update on the phone nor in iTunes on my Mac have I seen any notification of an update.

I don't see anything on my iPhone 5 or on iTunes about an additional update OTHER than the one that was released yesterday (12-18-12).

    Odd, to say the least.

I have Verizon - mine is a line from VA but I'm currently in NY. Received it the same way I always get notices from Apple that an update is available. Went ahead and installed it.

Have Verizon Fios here at home.

And what exactly is the "same way you always get notices from Apple that an update is available?" and what did the update say (if you remember)? Again, not trying to be rude - just that many of us are still having wifi issues after updating to iOS 6.0.2 so if there's something that could potentially fix it, we'd love to know.
