Q: When will the iOS 6.02 be available for the iPod Touch 4th Gen?

My iPod touch worked just fine with iOS 5. I use my iPod touch almost as texting machine, email, and voip machine. So, I need it to be on wifi all the time. I carry a mifi device with me. Now, since the upgrade to iOS 6 wifi doesn't stay on and takes the initiative to disable the auto-join. I can only check texts and emails when I manually connect to the internet. I no longer get notifications of incoming emails, texts, and incoming voip calls. If this is not fixed then the device is unusable to me and need to get something else. For iPhone people the problem is not as severe because the phone just switches from wifi to 3g/4g. But for me with the iPod touch I lose all connectivity entirely. It's very disappointing and disturbing.

There is no indication that iOS 6.0.2 will ever be provided for other devices. That's not to say that there will not be further updates, though; there certainly will be, though what they'll be designated, when they'll be released and what issues they'll address is something no one here can say.

    Regards.

IOS 6.0.2 only applies to the iPhone 5 and iPad Mini. Presumably this is because both of those products use the Murata 339S0171 WiFi module.

Thanks very much. That's not very good news. I cannot be out of touch/disconnectd like this. I don't want to use a cell phone. So, if this is not resolved soon I may need to run to best buy or get online to purchase some other device.

Have you tried the various solutions offered by Apple and in other posts in these forums for addressing WiFi issues?

I reset the network connection and set proxy setting as instructed. No luck, it didn't help. I shouldn't even have to do anything. It was working before the iOS upgrade and should work now.

This is becoming dangerous. Today, my daughter texted me to be picked up as she has done many times before reliably. This time I didn't get the texts because the iPod decided to disconnect from wifi and not notify me of incoming message. She ended up waiting curbside for a long time. I can't believe I have to change my life procedures because of bad upgrade quality. If I wanted this I would have bought Microsoft.

I don't want to use a cell phone.

The iPod touch is NOT a suitable replacement for a cell phone.

I realize that of course. I don't want to talk. The iPod touch had the capability to do exactly what I needed before the upgrade. It's not acceptable to destroy previously existing capability. I am only trying to get back what I had before. Is that unreasonable?
