    My dealer told me today:

    1. Infiniti's Bluetooth update has not been released yet.

    2. Both Infiniti's update and IOS 6.1 will be required to fix the problem.

I don't know whether the bluetooth update will apply to slightly older Gs as well.

    Thanks for the reply Hersco...

I called the Bluetooth Department and the Infiniti update is only for cars with Navigation.  As far as iOS 6.1, I asked the tech if he had information that 6.1 will address the bluetooth issue specifically, or if he just knows Apple will soon be releasing an update.  He softpedaled it and didn't seem to know the answer.  I think the 6.1 line may be just something they're telling people who complain.

He's supposed to be checking with other people and will call me back.  Maybe what the tech said will change.

Over the holidays I had the opportunity to try a few different phone/car combinations. I have an iPhone 4 (Verizon) and an '08 Infiniti G35. The phone will pair but will cut in and out during calls.

I have a work-issued Blackberry Curve that works with no problem.

I paired my girlfriend's iPhone 4S (AT&T) to my G35 and it worked just fine. We drove around all day Christmas shopping, stopping and restarting the car numerous times and trying the phone each time (making and receiving calls). It worked all day with no hiccups. Both mine and my girlfriend's phones have the latest software update.

I paired my parents' Samsung Galaxy Note to my G35 and it also worked just fine. Given that I've been able to use three other phones with my car, it doesn;t seem to be an Infiniti problem.

I also paired my iPhone 4 with my parents' 2011 Kia Soul. It works during calls just fine and the music streaming also works. However, sometimes it would not pair when I turned the car back on (it only paired three of five times I turned on the ignition). But if it did pair it was reliable. My parents use the Kia's bluetooth with their Galaxy Note and it is reliable. Again, this tells me it is an iPhone problem.

I'm in the market for a new phone and this experience along with reading the myriad posts on this problem makes me think some iPhones will work while others with exactly the same software won't. I'm going to buy an iPhone 5, take it to the parking lot, pair it to my car, and if it doesn't work, walk back in to Best Buy and exchange it for a Samsung Galaxy SIII.

If you google IOS 6.1 and beta, you will find a MacRumors board where you will see discussion on the upcoming release of 6.1 (whenever that will happen as they are on the 4th beta version at this point).  There is nothing in 6.1 as far as those boards show that include any fix for the bluetooth issue referenced in this string.

I would post the link to that board, but it seems Apple does monitor these boards and removed (censored) it.  I don't think they like the fact someone is being negative about anything they are doing.  Too bad they don't work on the problem as hard as they do in censoring what is posted on this board.

Got an iPhone 5 and it works well with my car.  Not sure why different phones running the same software have different results.  I will definitely check these forums before installing any new updates to iOS to avoid Apple nerfing it again.

I hope Apple issues a universal fix to this.

Infiniti finally released a software update for Infinitis with Nav.  My dealer received the disc on Tuesday 1/15.  Yesterday (1/16) I went to the dealer and they installed the upgrade.  I was their first.  Took about 1.5 hours.  Everything works great (finally)!!

Any specifics on the update disc?  My dealer didn't have any information or see any updates.  I went for an oil change today and he couldn't help me with my iphone5 problems.

Exactly what I did... By recommendation by my SA and I just got this reply:

Thank you for contacting Infiniti and allowing us the opportunity to be of assistance. We are sorry to hear about the iPhone 5 connectivity concerns that you are currently experiencing.

    You may experience the following:

    1)    Answer incoming call.  Call connects.  Caller can hear me but you cannot hear the caller.

    2)    Answer incoming call.  Call connects.  You cannot hear the caller and the caller cannot hear you.

Your Infiniti retailer will be provided with a software update to correct the concerns described above (in vehicles with navigation) by the end of the month of January. Please contact your Infiniti dealership for an appointment to have the software update performed on your vehicle.

Service Bulletin was issued on 1/11 for units with Nav.  My dealer received the disc on 1/14.  The upgrade continues to work perfectly.
