Reset your network settings on the device. Then try it. Have seen others having to do that after the update.

I just downloaded 6.0.2 and now cannot connect to wifi at all.

Before wifi was slow and would drop videos etc. I put phone six inches from access to download "fix" and now nothing.

To say that this whole experience has been a mess is an understatement. In reading all these posts I almost feel like Apple is telling us "okay, download the fix but make sure you're wearing a tin foil hat - heavy duty, of course. Stand on one foot in the northeast corner of your home but only after sunset. Hold the phone above your head at precisely a 22.5 degree angle. Begin downloading the fix and at the exact same moment - without  changing the angle of the phone - and sing your country's national anthem in any other language than your native language and it may fix the wifi issue."

I tried all that, Apple, and it STILL doesn't work.

By the way, I hope this goes without saying but I'm being completely sarcastic and my intent is NOT to make fun of anyone's suggestions here but just trying to lighten the mood on what's been very frustrating.

On that note - did anyone try any of these steps? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aLqIWd10ccY

    Hey guys!

I have an iPhone 5 and I used to have wifi problems but after switching my router and Internet service provider I have no problems. However, I want to ask if I am not having wifi issues should I update to the 6.0.2 iOS? I don't want to go back to the wifi problems I also had to face.

Thanks and good luck! I know how frustrating it is since I had the same problem as well.

The update did nothing for wifi. Can anyone out there tell me when they are connected to wifi and there wifi is slow. If they go to wifi and choose a Network and you push the blue arrow button where IP address should be everything is blank. But when there is a ip Address wifi works great. Can anyone tell me why that is.

I have seen this time and time again, with 6.0.1 and 6.0.2.  As I have posted in the past, when the connection information does not desplay, switch to a static connection and then back to a DHCP connection.  This works 100 percent of the time for me.  Apple get these issues fixed!!

You may want to try and reserve an IP address in your router for the device.  So basically you are assigning an IP address manually instead of DHCP doing it (sorta) Then when not at home you still have DHCP selected and will get IP from whatever wifi you are connecting to. At least it may keep you fom having to do it when at home. Routers will allow you to set the DHCP and IP address range so you would want to select an IP at the low end most likely. So if your range is 192.168.1.100 in DHCP you may want to selece 192.168.1.10 or something like that. Some are 192.168.0.x so make sure you are in the right subnet. In other words if your network is 192.168.1.x  or 192.168.0.x be sure to stick with the same first 3.

the short answer is any device has to have an IP address to connect to a network then to the internet. So if you do not have an IP its not on wifi so probably using cell data (thus slower)

there are mixed reviews. Lots of folks are saying it has fixed their issues. More that it made wifi faster and still some who say it did nothing. I have not seen any that said it made things worse sooooooo. But if you are not having issues you may be better served to wait on iOS 6.1.

Not always the case.  I always have my cell data off, unless I need it and still have found the phone showing a connection with no connection properties. At that point I attempt to go to the web, nothing. At that point I do th DHCP switch to static and then back again to DHCP, and I then can connect. I have seen this multiply times.

    Well her question was

"<<<<<Can anyone out there tell me when they are connected to wifi and there wifi is slow. If they go to wifi and choose a Network and you push the blue arrow button where IP address should be everything is blank. But when there is a ip Address wifi works great. So if the IP address is blank, you are not on wifi. If you can still surf but its slow (as it appears she is saying) then she is on cell data.  I get what you are saying that is may show connected but not work and when you look there is no IP address but if there is no IP address its not going to use wifi. As she stated when there IS an address all is well. So I was answering her question as to why its slow if no IP address. That would be because she isnt on wifi or a usable wifi maybe I should have said.

I suspect lots here dont know how a network actually works nor understand IP addresses etc. So her observation was its slow when there is no number in there but fast when there is and was wondering why that was.

I guess you have to read  the full dessicion before responding.

Ok not to be argumentative but, when you have cell data off and the wifi is in the condition that you describe, do you have slow internet access or no internet access? Your answer is no access. So getting an IP address via your method gets you connected. (Thats great BTW) Patsy indicated hers was slow when there was no IP and normal when there was (i suspect she doesnt have her cell data turned off as you do). So that would explain her issue. All I am saying is some folks have accomplished what you are doing manually by setting an IP address in their router for that specific device so it gets assigned via the routers network settings not DHCP. But whatever works for you in your particular case is awesome. I am merely offering an alternate solution that may work just as well. Hopefully Apple will actually resolve it so no one has to do anything but join the friggin network like they should be able to do and not have to become wireless router and network specialist

    Good point...

That works at home but not on a public connection point where I have seen this.

I installed 6.0.2 OTA (standing literally right next to home router) and it did nothing to fix my issues.  For my home network (Airport Extreme, fully updated, WPA2 password protected) I can't even see the SSID unless I am right next to the router and on campus (no idea what routers they use but tech department is well funded and I'm sure all the lastest drivers are instaleld) I can only see the SSID when I am literally right under a router.  The secruity we use is one of those login through a web browswer things, no password needed to connect to the network.

I am at a loss for what to do, do I try a replacement?
