I will be purchasing a SIM free iPhone soon. I work overseas and want to use a UK sim when in the UK and an Azerian sim when in Azerbaijan.

Will the phone still use the same back up (i.e. same apps and contacts) when I switch sims and does it matter if I obtain pay as you go sims only?

iPhone 4, Windows 7

The sim card you use has no bearing on the data on your phone. Switch as much as you like.

What wjosten said. However, there is a language issue here: SIM Free is not the same as Unlocked. A SIM free phone is unlocked until you put a SIM in it. From then on it is locked to the carrier of that SIM. Unlocked allows you to swap SIMs. So you need an Unlocked phone, not a SIM Free phone.

And to follow on from what Lawrence said, the only place you can get an unlocked iPhone in the UK is from Apple directly, either the online Apple Store or the retail stores. Do not buy from Carphone Warehouse. They will tell you that their iPhones are unlocked but that is not true; the iPhone will lock to the first carrier whose SIM you use.

    Regards.
