I've had battery issues since day one on my phone. However, when idling, it was always fine. My drain issues were always worse when on 3G/LTE (same on both). I commute 2h per day (1h each way) and often use the phone nonestop. When I do that, I drain between 15% to 20% in an hour which is less than the advertised 8h. I traded it in and I'm on my 3rd iPhone 5. Each had the same issue. I eventually gave up because I could still make it through the day. Most of the complaints that I read that were similar to mine seemed to come mostly from Canada and the UK and so I wonder if it's not carrier related...
With this newest updated, I now see a drain when I'm idling so the issue is compounded. I don't think I can make it through the day under these conditions which is a show stopper for me (I haven't had to commute yet this week). I could get a second charge cable ($45!!) so that I can charge while I'm at work but that's ridiculous for a $700 phone.
I'm hoping now that this issue will get more attention and hopefully a fix. I'll see if I have time to call into Apple Care today.

There have been battery life issues since day one. Now it's even worse with 6.0.2.

Sam issue. Since 6.0.2 my battery will drain 20% in less than an hour without even using it. I have the bightness all the way down, bluetooth and wifi off, and the battery still drops quickly. I had no problems with iOS 6.0.1. Sad that this hasn't been solved back with iOS 2 or iOS 3.

No problem so far with mine. I installed 6.02 today at 9:30AM, tested all my apps and now more than two hours later... I'm still at 100%. I installed 6.02 over the air too and quite pleased with the results.

I had the weak signal, battery and Wif issues from my original iPhone 5 with 6.01. Updated to 6.02 couple of days ago and Wifi issue seem to be gone but still have weak signal and battery issues. Changed to new phone couple of times in Apple Store but still have the same issues. I should have gotton Samsung Galaxy Note II instead!!!

Why can't they just create some app or switch that allows us to easily switch from 3G to Wifi. I'm sure they can figure out an easy way to do that without screwing something else up, and while it is not elegant, I wouldn't mind that as much as battery drains and excess data usage.

I am most certainly having the same issue... My iPhone would easily make it through a day with 30% to 40% remaining by bedtime. The last 3 days, though, my phone is dead by the time I drive home. I've had absolutely no new behaviors/applications/usage anomolies since loading 6.0.2 and the update is the only variable that has changed over the last 2 weeks. My WiFi signal was never an issue, and it continues to work just as well as it did before the update. That said, this battery situation is really annoying... it was like a switch was thrown at update and the juice just drained out at a much faster rate. Bummed about this, though I'm glad I'm not the only one and that this forum started!

Same here. All apps off, push disabled, and I literally watch the battery percentage points drain away. I had a full charge this morning, normal usage I should be in the 80's somewhere -- 36% and heading downward steadily! I can't charge my phone 3x a day, Apple.

Is there a way to downgrade back to 6.0.1? This is just unacceptable and what we have to live with this now??
My complaint/vent: I’ve always bought Apple products for their durability and quality. Therefore, I have always been willing to fork out the premium price they charge. However in the last few years there has been a steady decline in quality (not to be confused with design).
I use to be proud of being a loyal costumer and speak highly about all their products. It’s hard to do these days. I hope Apple can get off their high cash-cows and “rethink the possibilities” of their own products and customers.

I forgot to mention that my phone is heating up while battery drains out.

Yeah same issue with me, but not just with 6.0.2, since I got the iPhone 5, the battery has just been draining way faster that I expected it to be. I reset my phone, reset all my settings and still getting this issue

I also 'had' the issue with draining battery and for no reason whatsoever, a 72 MB download on my data plan overnight whilst idle.
Solved by restoring back to 6.01 from 6.02 and then a restore of my apps etc. Finally - peach and harmony with my iPhone 5.
**** you Apple, did you recently hire a bunch of Microsoft engineers for your iOS team?

Well it has been over 12 hours since I installed iOS 6.02 on my iP5 and right now it's showing 94%. I've been using it off and on all day to check email, use the weather and traffic apps, and browsed the internet using Safari. Maybe I'm just lucky or what???
I'm just fortunate that I took delivery the first time, a flawless Black iPhone 5 and never had any issues with it what so ever. I hope I didn't just jinx myself!
