Check this Apple article out -> iTunes 10.5 for Windows: May see performance issues and blank iTunes Store
iTunes is slow to respond.
If you have one of the LSPs mentioned you may want to try a winsock reset or remove the software creating it.

That article above links to this one, for problems that aren't there in Safe mode -> iTunes: Troubleshooting issues with third-party iTunes plug-ins
Try removing the plug-ins from
Windows Vista and Windows 7:

So far the slow start up problem seems to be fixed. But it still makes me sign in to authorize this computer for automatic downloads every single time it launches? It's not a big deal, but it's kind of annoying. when i have to sign in there is no check box for "remember me" or anything.
edit: another thing, I went to preferences and the store tab, and found the following check boxes:
Automatic downloads for:
Always check for available downloads
Automatically download pre-orders when available
NONE of them are selected. So I do not have automatic downloads enabled. Yet I still have to type in my password every time to authorize for something that I don't have enabled. Strange.

I also I this problem and untill now none of the above fixes solved my isues!
My itunes takes around 10 to 15 min (with itunes process in process manager) to load!
The strange think is that my system doesn't show any "stress" while opening it, the cpu load is fine (around 0% actually) and system memory is around 50% 60%, that is totally normal in my computer with itunes and chrome open.
Please help me this is very annoing, I takes ages to manage my iphone!
I tried booth lauching in itunes safe mode and start with a new library (shift while opening) the itunes still takes ages to lauch!

Try disabling all automatic downloads (Edit > preferences > Store, uncheck all boxes). I enabled these and it caused me no end of grief with itunes freezing. Now I've disabled these it seems ok, at least for now.

I'm also having the same problem and I have tried everything posted above. The only thing that seems to work is if I unplug my wireless adapter first, start Itunes and once loaded plug the wireless adapter back in. I have also replaces the wireless adapter with a newer one and I am still getting the same problem.
This is very frustrating any help would be great.

I had the same problem and found it related to a USB hard drive that I had disconnected a while back. I reconnected the drive and iTunes started up instantly. I'm guessing iTunes was looking for files on the missing drive? I don't think I added any AAC files to the iTunes library from the USB drive but maybe iTunes scans all drives that were attached to the pc when iTunes was installed? Anyway, hope this helps someone.

I tried this, and it worked for me. It would take at least a few minutes for iTunes to open, and I was always thinking I had bad memory or a bad processor, but something just didn't add up. As soon as I did this, iTunes would always open up much quicker without any delays. I've done it about a 3-4 times now. Thank you for this suggestion. I will let you know if there are any other issues.Windows 7
