You can check for compatibility here:

The version you had may not work with Mountain Lion.
There is a version that does (3.0.4--I think from iLife '11), but Apple has discontinued iWeb and has disabled the hosting services that it published to.
If you still have the install disk, you can try to install it on your new Mac.
You can still use it to create local web sites, but given that they have discontinued the program, it is likely better to choose a different web development platform.

Hi Eric, many thanks for your reply. Having looked at the link. I guess it's not worth the trouble.

Hi Barney, many thanks for your reply.
Based on your advice, I guess I'll give it a miss and look elsewhere.

iWeb '09 (3.0) was on both the iLife '09 DVD & the iLife '11 DVD which are both still availabe on Amazon. iLife '09 is the cheaper of the 2

Hi Jeff, many thanks for the help here. I may very well look into the purchase of the iLife '11 DVD.
May I congratulate you on a most excellent website.
PS I also have a Lacie Big Disk Extreme 500Gb external drive, which is currently back in it's box from when I
lost the functionality of my old imac G5. Even my current imac is not a new one (very much un-loved by the look of it) I paid, can you believe, £380 second hand plus another £20 for the old hard drive to be encased in a 'caddy'
which enables me to access old stuff. I may be looking to replace it in years to come, but as the famous American philosophy goes: If it ain't bust, don't fix it.

That's why I am still using iWeb. I like the way it works & none of its so called competitors allow the freedom of design that iWeb offers.
I recently upgraded to a MacMini Server (1 month before the new mini was announced) but, I am pleased with it. I use it as my daily machine. I had a 24" iMac that the internal hard drive had failed. Ran it for a year or so on an external drive before handing it down to my nephews & buying a new machine.Mac mini, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2), 2 GHz Quad-core i7 -Memory 16 GB

I take it from that set-up that you probably run it through a Thunderbolt display (or 2)?
I've never given any thought to the imac Mini, but now I've learned more about it, I might just give it some thought for the future.
Many thanks for the update and here's wishing you and yours a Happy Christmas and a fruitful new Year.

Acutually I am using an Asus 24" monitor. I didn't have the $$$ for a thunderbolt display.

Hi Jeff, Firstly, I managed to get a copy of iLife '11 and have installed it. My next problem is to try to come somewhere near the quality of your excellent site. I did set up a site on my old iMac PPC (G5), but all references to it are on the old hard drive, and not sure if anything on it is transferable. Seriously thinking of starting over afresh.
I have a Google Adsense account, so some possible money earning potential there.
Any pointers you could advise me on would be greatly appreciated without taking up too much of your time.
Just for info: I bought the iLife DVD via Amazon on Christmas Day. I was advised to expect it around 2nd Jan. It arrived on Friday 28th December. Hows that for service?!!
