I just upgraded my iPad2 to ios6 today. I like to wait a while before installing major updates so I can understand better what I'm getting into.
Anyway, after going over all configs I took it to my iMac and noticed that iTunes won't sync wirelessly with the iPad anymore, just like you all have said. I unchecked and checked again the sync wirelessly checkbox and shutdown and restarted iTunes, no dice. I powered down my router for 30 seconds and restarted it. Shutdown iTunes again and restarted it and the iPad button came up on iTunes with the iPad unplugged the whole time.
Odd, but rebooting the router seems to be the fix here. Just my 2c.
I've never surrendered to it.
It works, but you have to reboot all the devices one or two times, without rebooting the router.....
My solution is:
Reboot itunes machine,
Reboot ios device(s)
Then, go to wireless sync....wait one or two minutes "et voilà...le tour est joué".....
I never sync wired anymore....but i'm patient. Of course i've stopped ipdates at ios 6.0.0 and itunes 10.7 (kind of)....
Is there someone who is doing better ....i'd like to upgrade me also...
I've Been going crazy trying to sync my iPad to my iTunes using wireless sync, until now. My iTunes is on a Windows 7 box on my network using a wired connection. What I didn't realize is that the Windows 7 box needs to actually be on the same wireless network and can't be plugged into the router on a wired connection. Once I connected the Windows 7 box to the same wireless network that my iPad uses I had no problems whatsoever. I hope this helps some of you.
I am having the same problem. With my PC windowns 7, I am able to sync my iTunes Library to my Iphone 4S (version iOS 6.0.1) without a problem.
However, with my Ipad (the latest generation) I am not able to sync it with my iTunes Library on my pc ... I feel I was scamed by Apple. It seems Apple has changed the volume of electricity so with Windows devices it is very difficult to make it works. The first time I tried to connect my Ipad to my PC I had a message that there is a connection problem with the Ipad USB. Then I was obliged to restart the devices recovery on my pc because I wasn't able to use the usb with another device like a printer or a mouse.
Then each time I try to connect my Ipad with my PC, nothing happen. I changed the USB but nothing happens.
It is my last purchase of Apple stuff. My Ipad was my birthday present and I feel I should have better invest my money in another thing. What makes me angry the guy at Apple store never told me about the problem I will have with my PC when it is time to sync.
Next week I will try to discuss with someone at the Apple store to find a solution.
The same here:
3 ipods touch 64 gb
2 ipads snd generation 64gb 3g
2 iphones 32
If i add it all: around 6000cad.....
After all the strange behaviors and idiosyncracies coming from mac OS, IOS, just the fact that i wanted to rollback to ios5 but wasn't authorized by apple makes me regretting Egypt Onions......: Windows isn't that bad after all, and you're not stuck with a hardware brand.
Sorry folks, but apple is truly giga-overrated.
I'm an Apple "fanfamily" since 2007 (ipod touch 1), i even installed my windows setup for programming on my macbookair .....that was when apple was "cool" ..... Now they look like (even if they're the biggest company in the world), if they were pentagon........
Just like if the ice cream seller had become a machine gun trader.
Since win xp is almost dead, that windows seven 64 bits has proven its toughness, that windows eight has missed the point....
I strongly recommend: generic android tablets, a big pc workstation with dual hp 24 inches screens, and samsung note II as cell phone: if you add it all: it costs half the price i paid for that apple stuffs......
I have been frustrated for months along with many others. WIFI Sync was hit or miss at best; usually didn't work. I just set my IP address on my iPhone to "STATIC" per instructions at:
Have plugged-in/unplugged iPhone and restarted iTunes several times. So far WIFI Sync seems to work exactly as advertised no matter what order I start iTunes and plug iPhone into power source. If this remains true then I will be forever grateful to
Yesterday, I had an appointment with Apple Store team - Laval. I brought my PC, my Ipad and all its tools. I explained my problem. The Apple gay explained he cannot touch my PC but he will try to connect my Ipad to his MacBook. So he did, but he had an error message. So he changed my Ipad cable by another one and it worked. So, he gave a new cable. When, I arrived home I was able to sync my iTunes Library to my iPad. I chanded the parameters of iCloud and sync it too. Now everything works properly and I am enjoying listening my music all the day long. However, when I was at the store, I explained to Apple Gay that I have an overdrive on my Iphone and the same application on my iPad, but wasn't able to make syncrochnisation between them. He told me that some applications are out of syncing such as Overdrive.
I GIVE UP!
Some days when I mess with WiFi Sync I plug it into laptop, sometimes I reboot phone, and usually iTunes as well on Win 7 64. Sometimes I mess with settings on iTunes and its Preferences, sometimes those on phone.I seldomly reboot laptop. It'll work for some number of hours or a day or so.
I am tired of trying to solve the puzzle of the secret sequence.
fine tuning the workaround is always a good idea.
it seems that rebooting everything doesn't always sort the issue.
One interesting thing though is that (if you follow the logic behind ios6), they try to pu a lot of energy in saving energy....so if you don't "prime" your ios device wi-fi (open safari and browse one page or two), it looks like you're device showing wi-fi active isn't truly active for inbound connection: after browsing one or two pages (after rebooting both the ios device and restarted pc or apple service)....if you do that and wait a bit it should work : your device should appear in the device list in itunes,
I still recommend static ip for both ios device and itunes host, restarting the service (look for bob gratton's comment about it in that big thread, he shows how to restart itunes with a .bat file on windows))
I tell you: i've been struggling a lot with that issue, it can take 15 minutes before i get the proper handshaking but i get it everytime i try. And no i won't plug one of my 6 ios device in my wardrobe server, only for the challenge..
Wi-FI sync works with ios 6.0.0 (and previous) and itune 10.7
Last advice : for a while i suggest not to become an early adopter to apple's updates (mountain lion is draining the battery the fan has become noisy, i rollbacked to lion and everything is fine, ios6.0.2 is draining the battery in ipad mini and iphone 5))......
that wi-fi issue has tamed for good, ......for good.
