I have a similar problem.
My iPhone 4S has become useless after 1 month.
Go to an Apple Store or other authorized repair service. Your phone is still under warranty, so any place that honors Apple's warranty will replace it for free.

I had this problem with my 3 mo. old iPhone 4s. I tried with a number of cords and usb ports/ac adapters and nothing worked. Well, nothing worked except my external battery backup case by Mophie. That kept me going until I could get to my appointment with the Genius Bar at the Apple Store. They confirmed that there was no water damage and the dock connector appeared to be in good working order but when they plugged it in they couldn't get it to charge either. I have AppleCare+ and they replaced the phone without hesitation. But I still don't have an answer as to why a new phone would have such a problem and, furthermore, why it would still charge from an external battery case but by no other method. (The Apple cords all tested fine.)

Mines doing the same thing... although Im being told my 8 mth old phone is out of warranty??
Mine comes up with "Charging is not supported with this accessory"... I dont use any aftermarket plug ins only the ac charger that came with it. Since this problem started I have tried my friends charger that works perfectly with her phone but not with mine, I also tried the usb to pc still the same thing, itunes doesnt pick it up either.
Very frustrating, this is the 2nd iphone to go bung on me now.

Try using a car charger. It works for me every time I can't get a charge from my home charger. It doesn't make sense but it works. Once it is at least partially charged, it will charge normally form a home charger again as long as you do not let it get completely dead.

Steps to check before setting up an appointment at an Apple Store
1. Check that your cable is in good condition
2. Make sure your plugging into a working USB port ( try the ones on the back of the computer)
3. No water or physical damage
4. Try a different wall outlet or try restarting the computer and device

my 3gs is doing the same thing but it looks like the addaptor looks like the center is thinner and blackened. but it has always been in a otter box and pluged into a iphone cord.
Last night it was at 2% plugged it in and it was not charging but i left it ( tired ) and after 8 hours it went to 50%

I had the same problem. my iphone 4 wont charge from the wall chargers. i testest the charger on another iphone and it was working fine. i could only charge my phone with a computer.
If u have warranty on it get it replaced. i had no warranty left on it.
try pluging into a computer.
