Q: Finding Serial Number for Old copy of FCP
Hello All,
I'm trying to reinstall FCP 3 (yes 3) on an old imac and either:
have the right serial # but entering something wrong or have the wrong serial #.
I have ALL the paperwork and boxes that came with it including my registration card and the invoice/purchase info (by email)
I did register FCP when purchased . But my FCP install disk has become separated from the envelop with the serial number on it.
Called Apple but when I told them what version I was on they put me on hold until I hung up instead of just telling me the software is too old.
Some questions:
Isn't there a number you can call to get your registration number?
Does it matter what you enter in the Name and Organization fields if you have or haven't registered?
THe Serialization box is asking for a serial number but the fields says see your "registration number sheet" which I have.
Doss anyone happen to know if the serial number begins with an R, (like my registration # does) or an A
I've tried the Reg #, a Serial # and a SKU# with no luck.
Are there multiple places the serial number is written ? Manuals, on the disk ?etc other places I could check.???
Thanks,
Al

Up through FCP 6, the serial number stickers were affixed to the front of the booklet titled; "Installing Your Software," much like this image for Logic: http://km.support.apple.com/library/APPLE/APPLECARE_ALLGEOS/HT3416/HT_logicSuppo rtID.jpg
