Bought an iPad mini on the 24th. Brought it home, worked out of the box like a charm. I have the same wifi network spread across two apartments, with two different routers. Went to the other apartment last night with the iPad, then came back to my apartment. In my apartment the iPad claimed it could not connect to my network any longer. I did the following:

    1. "Forget the network", and then re-added it. No luck.

    2. Added the IP settings manually in case it was a DHCP error, no luck.

    3. Changed the name of the network. No luck.

    4. Changed from just type N to mixed b/g/n, no luck.

    5. Changed from WPA2-mixed to WPA2 TKIP, WPA2 AES, no encryption etc., no luck.

    6. Changed the channel. No luck.

    7. Got miffed went to bed. Please note all other devices working just fine. Blackberry phone, hoping around with all the wifi changes like a trooper, iPad sulking. Set iPad to wifi off and airport mode on for a 8 hour rest.

    8. Woke up, tried it again, same problem.

    9. Changed from 2.4 Ghz to a 5 Ghz network with A/N mixed. That fixed it.

This is silly. Not everyone out there will be tech gurus with their wifi router, this stuff should just work.

yes,its know that 5 Ghz fixes the issue, but most users (like me ) have 2.4 Ghz and not dual mode routers.

It is really, really unbelievable Apple ignores this problem. Hundreds of problems were announced on the web and all of them are serious and unsolvable or very difficult to solve. In the Apple store they refuse to talk about it, and refuse to look at their own website. They point at firmware of the router. And my wifi problem is nót related to a router of third parties, I use only Apple hardware (Express and Extreme, problem seems to be connecting with Express).I really cannot believe their arrogancy concerning this major issue. Never doubted about Apple products, but now my trust in this company is seriously less.

Thanks Apple, for causing so many problems and not solving it and not giving any service at all.

Sorry.. you're telling me I have to buy a new router that's dual band, just because Apple's new ios6 is flawed?

I just got my iPad for Christmas, and it was perfect for a day before I updated the OS. I am very very annoyed and frustrated about this.

My issue is related to public WiFi which worked fine before the 6.02 update. I'm using an Apple Time Capsule at home with no problems.

That is very interesting!! Im not a tech wiz so Im at my own mercy, I do re start network on the ipad or ipod and I do unplug my router, so far those have worked but if I go out of my house with either of them and try to connect to a public wifi, I cant and then coming home I cant connect again so I have to do the restart re set crap all over again.. UGH APPLE GET your **** together.

Yeah, that'll get things fixed won't it. Just sit back and complain, and wait for someone to do something for you. God forbid you would read some the the excellent troubleshooting tips in this thread and try to help yourself. Nope, just tell Apple to get its **** together and wait.

So what are your plans to resolve your issue other than complain about it? Just asking.

I see the exact same problem.

I can't connect to a 2.4 GHz WPA2 wifi with my iPad Mini (iOS 6.0.2).

Connecting to 5 Ghz wifi seems to work fine, but no luck connecting to a 2.4 Ghz wifi.

Btw - all my other devices (iPhone 4S, Nexus 7, MacBook Pro) have no problems connecting to the same 2.4 GHz wifi.

This is ridiculous - hope that Apple will fix this issue asap.

In the end with my case I opened a ticket with Apple support, did a whole bunch of tests and could not get it to connect to any 2.4Ghz network, including the one at the local Apple store. Its been put into the local Apple Tech Service for repair/exchange (currently no stock available). In my case it would connect perfectly to any 5Ghz network and would not connect to any 2.4Ghz network. Most likely a hardware fault.

While I agree there are some things to try you seem to fail to acknowledge that Apple iOS 6 caused this issue. Also you apparently dont get it that the average user is not a technical network specialist and should not have to be because of Apples failures. The average users who got a new iDevice for Christmas expecting to turn it on and follow the simple setup to activate it SHOULD be able to do just that. You seem to blame the users for this Apple screw up. I am a technician and as such can do and am willing to do certain things to try and get connected or help friends in the same boat. What about the users who frequent coffee shops and other public hot spots? Are they suppose to order their coffee and ask to speak to the resident tech to make adjustments to their hotspot so this sh*tty iOS update can connect? Come on be realistic, and perhaps a little more cordial to the screwed Apple users with their new iDevices that dont "just work" as Apple devices used to do before the update.
