    Answering the questions in reverse.

    1.  Yes, HUGE!!!!!!!!

    2.  What I did

2a. I completely wiped my computer and reinstalled from a DVD copy that I make of ML 10.8.1 (which has iTunes 10.6X), then reinstalled iTunes 10.7 which I had a download copy of.

Hopefully you have a solid backup (I do) of your iTunes library or like I had another computer that was exactly like the one I upgraded to iTunes 11.

The key to my iTunes downgrade success was:

    1.  Having a copy of ML (10.8.1) on DVD

    2.  Having a downloaded copy of iTunes 10.7 (21).

    3.  Having a extra computer that I had NOT upgraded to iTines 11 on.

    4.  Using the extra computers with iTunes 10.7 library on I was able to import everything using Home Sharing.

There are other ways of downgrading from iTunes 11 to 10.7 without going through the extreme that I did but at least I know for a FACT that my computer is operating correctly.  The problem with (debatable) iTunes is it's integrated into the OS and you can't simply delete it without going through several hoops.

Good luck and keep us updated as to what you did!!!!!!!!!

Yes you can get the old file but it's not a simple install as the library will have been updated and will not downgrade, some have found also that thier iTunes account is corrupt when downgrading.

Wow, this sounds robust - thank you!

I guest that I can find out how can I make a copy of Mountain Lion on DVD but still I do not have "an extra computer that I had NOT upgraded to iTines 11"

    1.

Before I start to demolish my Mac, could you tell if this is necessarry (point 3. of your post) - is it only to retrieve the library indexes or is there more to it?

I still can make a copy of actual files and while I manage to reinstall old version of iTunes I wll need to "add to library" all of them. I can guess that this way I will lose all information that is not stored in files tags e.g. songs marked as "skipp when shuffle" will not be marked any longer - but that is OK for me. I think I can bear this loss

    2.

And one more question concerning making a copy of the MLion system: If I make a copy AFTER I had made the iTunes upgrade does it allow old version of iTunes back?

    3.

I wonder if the new "Remote" for iPad will still work with the old iTunes ... Do you know?

If not, while I downgrade iTunes I will need to face downgrading "Remote" for iPad

    4.

Just to be fair to Apple I have realised that I should list their failures first. I do not want to polute this thread. What is the right place to canalize my dissatisfaction (very close to fury ) with their new iTunes upgrade?

    1.   Since you upgraded to 11 your library will NOT work with a downgraded version of iTunes 10.7.  You could always make a copy of your library on a DVD or external HDD and then possibly drag and drop content back in to the downgraded version, at your own risk.

    2.   Since I have a copy of ML 10.8.1 I can't tell you for sure if you make a copy of ML 10.8.2 that it will or will NOT have iTunes 11 or 10.7.  Because you'll have to make a DVD copy from Apple download it would make sense that iTunes 11 could be already intergraded......The only way to know is to try it.  I know that maybe risky and that's your decision.  If you decide to make a copy you'll need a doulble layer blank DVD.

    3.  The Remote app works fine no worries here.....(on my iPhone5).

    4.  Apple feedback.  http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunesapp.html

    Good luck.
