Q: Do the multi-tasking apps use up a LOT more user MB's?

Does multi-tasking apps cause you to use a LOT more user MB's?  If so, can I make it stop?  I have been triple charged by my service provider by email messages and did not even know anything was running?

Please help.

Double-clicking the Home button displays a list of recently used apps. These apps are not necessarily actively in use, open, or taking up system resources. They will instantly launch when you return to them. Certain tasks or services can continue to run in the background.

Thanks for that, but my 200 mb that I never went over with my Iphone 3, went from 200 to 200 to 1500mb and the AT&T guy said that was because of the apps at the bottom, that they are still streaming.

Some apps do continue to run in the background; most do not. You could close the app when you're not using them if that makes you better about your data usage. Open the multitasking menu, tap and hold the app until it starts to wiggle and tap the symbol that appears. I doubt that it will make a differance but the guy at AT&T knows best.
