iPhoto is not responding

Dear Expert,


I cannot open iPhoto. Its status is always "Application Not Responding". I use iPhoto '08 and my operating system is Mac OS X 10.6.8 (Leopard Snow). 3 days ago it work normal. I didn't erase any file or install any software. Can anyone tell me, how can I fix it? Thank you.

    As a Test:



    Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'



    Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?

    And I tried this (quote from LarryHN, ):

    iPhoto preference file - quit iPhoto and go to "your user name" ==> library ==> preferences ==> and trash it


    You do not have to reimport all your Photos if you do this.


    Your next paragraph, about sourcing files in the Library is incomplete and you could very easily end up with thumbnails instead of photos.


    Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In Library Manager it's the FIle -> Rebuild command)



    This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.



    Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

    Thank you, Terence!  Your advice fixed my problem with iPhoto not responding.  That iPhoto Library Manager saved the day for me.  Now I am back in business.  Thank you!

    I did all of the above - except the iPhoto Manager, my MacBook is an Intel but not Intel 2, so I can't get that software

    I guess the only thing I can do is re-install SL...
