Why is itunes to hard to use?  I the latest version makes it impossible to find the function that allows me to set up which items to sync to my iphone... instead all I see is essentially advertisements to buy things I don't want. I switched from PCs to Mac because they were easy to use but it appears that Apple is maximizing sales at the expense of ease of use.

iMac, Mac OS 9.2.x

Are you sycing via iTunes, because I don't see a single add when connected via the Desktop iTunes.

In iTunes 11, when your iPhone is connected to iTunes and you select Apps, you either click the Install or Remove buttons to sync. That's different from the previous version of iTunes.  Music, photos and movies seem to be the same as the previous version for syncing.

The easiest way to find what you are looking for is to enable the sidebar assuming you already have not.

Do This by View > Show Sidebar

Then the left hand sidebar will appear.

If your device is connected you will see it in your devices in the sidebar.

Click on your device and you will see th epage change to show you a summary page of your device. Alos along the top there are buttons to access categories of items to sync.

They are Summary, Info, Apps, Tones, Music, Movies, TV Shows, Books and Photos.

If you click on the Music button you will be able to select what music you want via Playlists, Artists, Albums and Genres. When you have selected what you want the sync button is at the bottom right.

The same holds true for Apps, Movies etc

Ahh, the Sidebar.  The Sidebar is the first thing I enabled in V11. I think it should be open by default with the option to hide.
