What is the latest software for the ipod classic 160 gb?
When was it released and how do I download it?
iPod classic 160GB (Late 2009)
My 160GB from 2009 (?) has 1.1.2 PC on it. I seem to recall seeing posts suggesting that there are other versions, but I've never been 100% sure why.
Regardless of what your iPod states, if you connect it to your iTunes Library and look on the iPod/Summary pane, you will see a Check for Updates button:

Notice that the information above the button already states that my iPod is up to date, so in fact, selecting Check for Updates will only tell me the same thing. Your iPod will be the same, even if your software version is different.
The Classic has not had any updates for some time now. That's because the iPod has no need of any updates - it's not as sophisticated as an iPod Touch.
