Nov 9, 2012 5:31 AM in response to Pavel Yolshinby Pavel Yolshin,My problem with SMS is solved!
I should erase all content and activate the iPhone again (and restore content from backup). Then in iTunes I’ve got a message that the phone is unlocked. And now everything works fine.

He told me that my serial number was registered in their database for full activation.
I erase all data and settings after an iCloud backup, then reinstall !
Now, sms, facetime and imessages works !
Great support !

Nov 9, 2012 2:51 PM in response to Ashwath Narayanby tintupillai,Hi Ashwath. I am from India and have bought a fully paid Sprint iPhone 5 (without contract) from 5th Avenue last month. I am not able to activate my phone for use with an Indian carrier. I keep getting "Sim not supported" message on iTunes when connecting to activate. And if i try to activate without iTunes, by simply using wifi on the iPhone 5 i still get stuck on a "Sim not valid" page on my phone... Although I can see all signal bars showing full reception on the top left corner of the phone. Why is my phone still locked when I was told it is unlocked for international networks?... How did you work around this? Any suggestions? Did you call Apple Customer Care to unlock the phone? Is that what I need to do?

Nov 9, 2012 3:24 PM in response to tintupillaiby imobl,Contact Sprint to see if they offer unlocking and if you qualify.
Only the carrier to which the iPhone is locked can unlock it.

Nov 9, 2012 3:28 PM in response to imoblby tintupillai,But when I bought the phone they said it will be unlocked for use outside the US.. I specifically asked them regarding carrier lock and they said it was locked to Sprint in USA but outside the US I could use any carrier. I bought the phone with the sole purpose of using it in my home country(India). This was bought from an Apple Store

Nov 9, 2012 8:03 PM in response to tintupillaiby Ashwath Narayan,Looks like yours is a different problem. All the people on this thread were able to use everything except for outgoing SMS, iMessage and FaceTime. Our phones were activated with out local SIM cards. It's just that we werent able to send SMS. Please call Apple support.

Nov 11, 2012 1:19 AM in response to Ashwath Narayanby tintupillai,Hi Ashwath! Thanks for your help! It was actually a faulty sim. I used a sim cutter earlier and I guess that must have messed some part of the circuit board of the sim card. It works perfectly fine now when I changed the SIM. my iPhone finally works! YAYY!
