Ive seen where some said it took two hours, so you should try again and be patient.

Thank you for the prompt reply.
I restored the phone from icloud backup (which isn't the most recent back up and in there I only had some photos and notes) without a problem. It took me more or less within 30 minutes I guess. But my most recent backup is in my computer. I tried to allow more time (one whole night) to restore the backup from the computer, the next morning my computer crashed and restore wasn't complete. Can anyone help again? Thanks.

I am in the EXACT same situation, it's so ridiculously frustrating. I've come to hate iTunes for making this process so difficult. Hands down the worst experience I've ever had with an Apple product.

I agree, this actually makes me regret buying an iphone because the main reason for buying an iphone 5 is to avoid setting up the phone, contacts etc. from scratch and now it doesn't really make any difference.
And I am not sure if I should back up iphone 5 now after using it for a while as I am not sure if it would overwrite the back up from my old phone.
Can anyone help loading the back up of iphone 4 onto iphone 5???

I am not sure if you guys have tried this or if you're trying to restore your iPhone 5 from the backup of your 4 or 4S but I had the same problem that's why I resorted to Google hence why I have put a comment on here, I was trying to restore from backup on my iMac running OS X and had the same error, I backed up my 4S on my Dell laptop running Windows 7 and it worked then I synced my 5 on my iMac, after that I restored my 5 from the backup that I had just done.
This worked for me, I hope this helps you guys.
