I Noticed this problem yesterday as well and deleting the integration to Facebook did significantly increase my download speed from 30 Mbps to  more than 160 Mbps. I was downloading from my 'DOWNLOADS' app I downloaded from the App Store to get these measurements.

Its because Facebook Integration in iOS has bugs and requires fixes. Facebook Integration in iOS consumes RAM and slows down everything due to which the Apps keep closing and Wifi is unable to work under the extreme conditions the way it normally works. I was having Slow or No Wifi connectivity, Apps Crash and Decreased battery life. I browsed through this forum and found the solution that Facebook Integration deletion is the only answer to the solution of all these problems.

Maybe if you read the OP's problem, you would understand why this has nothing to do with Facebook integration.  The OP is experiencing slow App store downloads, but NORMAL WiFi SPEEDS with everyting else.  If Facebook were the issue, it would slow WiFI in general, not just with the App store.

READ THE THREAD before posting irrelevant "solutions."

FWIW, I get 30-40 MBps on WiFi WITH full Facebook integration installed (ISP rated 40 Mbps).

Dick head, Read the other threads as well , Where users have posted the same problems and solution to these by deleting Facebook Integration. I am not a software developer , I am just posting from what i have experienced on a few iphones from friends including mine as well who deleted facebook integration after upgrading to iOS 6.0 and are now free from problems. There are bugs in Facebook Integration due to which massive RAM is consumed , In general it will show regular Wifi speed butu downloads would be slow. I don't have any war with you. I don't mean to offend any one. I am just posting experience here.

You lost everyone with "dick head."  Maybe this year you'll get through the 8th grade (3 times' a charm!) and grow up enough to post like a human.

There is no way that low runtime memory would affect only downloads from the app store and nothing else.  Learn a little about the technology you're babbling about (not to mention the difference between analytic and magical thinking).  GET a utility that shows runtime memory use.  Your theory is crap.

Any resolution to the problem? I have the exact same issue. Browsing and streaming is fine over Wifi but the second I try App Store downloads or downloading music from iTunes Match my speed on those particular downloads crawl. My experience is solely isolated in try to download apple server hosted content

I had the same issue and I've tried all proposed solutions:

    1: delete facebook/facebook integration

    2: re-join WiFi

3: turn off genius for apps

I finally fixed by problem by signing out from itunes/appstore on my iphone.

Next time I tried downloading an App I re-entered my credentials and speed was back to normal.

Hence, for those who still have this issue, try logging out from the store (via IOS Settings). This might help.

If you haven't resolved the issue, here's my solution (and I didn't have to resort to deleting Facebook or FB integration in iOS 6):

I had the exact problem- although the WiFi connection on my iPhone 5, tested via Speedtest app and through web browsing, has always been fast (@ 40Mbps), downloading media from iTunes and apps from the the App Store was abysmal- for example, a 250mb file took over 15 minutes to DL.  After seeing a Genius at Apple Store, his conclusion was that it's probably my router since everywhere else (including at the Apple Store I was at) I had no problem downloading apps/media at much faster speed.  He didn't exactly specify what could possibly be the problem with my router.

After going through the setting on my router, I discovered that at some point I had set the DNS to manual entry (instead of being set by the ISP) and was using the Google Public DNS which is/are 8.8.8.8/8.8.4.4.  I had found this to be much faster and more reliable than the default DNS.  But it occured to me that this could be the reason for the slow connection to Apple-specific network (iTunes/App Store).  So basically I look for alternative DNS and entered this for my primarily  64.71.255.253 and for my secondary, 64.71.255.198.

And they work- I'm back to getting fast App Store/iTunes DL speed while the rest of my connection remained at the same speed and reliability as the Google DNS.  My advice is to look into alternative DNS from what's currently on your router (especially if, like me, you've resorted to using Google DNS for speed/reliability).  But if you're unfamiliar with setting your Router, I would either refrain or ask someone you know who has some basic knowledge in setting up router.

All these happnes only when phone is connected to WIFI.

    Solution Plzzzz

I can confirm what myke6699 said:

Move away from DNS servers 8.8.8.8 or 4.4.4.4 and app store is fast again - no need to delete FB or restart your device.

It looks a little bit that Google does not really likes Apple devices ;-)

Thanks Mate that was perfect! I was using open DNS, changed it back to service provider default and bingo! Guys no need to remove FB integration. Once again thanks myke6699

    Another, me too...

I tried all the suggestions so far (turning Genius off in Location Services, making sure my router DNS was my ISP's standard, logging out of iTunes account and I never had Facebook integration installed) with no luck. I also did a couple of network resets. A 17MB app (Words With Friends Free) took over 7 min. to install via wireless on an iPhone 5. My iPad 3 WiFi pulled it down and installed the HD version in less than 30 sec. on the same home network. I actually get much faster installs over LTE when I'm near the service.

My two "last resorts" are either doing a full restore of the iPhone or calling Apple. Both could kill an awful lot of time. Has anybody here tried a full reset/restore?

Doh!! A simple hardware reset (Home & Sleep/wake-button) did the trick. Fruit Ninja Free came down in just over 30 sec and deleting and re-downloading Ww/F was under 30.

Curiously, after the reset I opened the App Store app and immediately got nagged to enable the Genius (which, of course, I did not). It could be that the hard reset forced my Genius setting change to take when a simple reboot would not.
