Dec 28, 2012 11:15 PM in response to Zoketsuby sberman,Once you've erased it as described in the HT4137 article you attached, look near the bottom of the article and follow the "If you erased your device for troubleshooting purposes" section to show you how to set it up as new for the next person.

Dec 29, 2012 8:05 AM in response to sbermanby Zoketsu,All the instructions say that to set up an old iPad for another person you reset, erase, and then the new person plugs into his or her computer. But my new user doesn't have a computer. It seems the iPad remains on my apple ID. What to do?

Dec 29, 2012 3:04 PM in response to Zoketsuby sberman,The original iPad can run iOS 5. iOS 5 is recent enough to know about iCloud. So, if you have iOS 5 on your original iPad, you can do these two steps:
1. Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings
2. Turn it on, go through setup assistant, and set it up either as new or through iCloud (to someone else's Apple ID). No computer would be required.

There are a few steps to do:
Switch off iMessage in Settings > Messages
Switch off FaceTime in Settings > FaceTime (iPod touch 4th Generation or later, iPhone 4 or later and iPad 2 or later)
Delete iCloud in Settings > iCloud > Delete Account
Finally Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings.
Un-register your device: https://supportprofile.apple.com
Now you can sell/give.
