Q: The dreaded error 100 - I've tried about everything
Hi! I have an iMac v9.1 with Mac OS X 10.6.8, 8 Gb RAM and about 90 Gb disk space. I have been using Mac App store to buy and download applications, the last time I downloaded a paid application was in late October.
Last weekend I opened the App store to buy and download Mountain Lion 10.8.2 and got these errors:
Purchase of this item is not currently available. This item is being modified. Please try again later.
And then:
We could not complete your request. There was an error in the App Store. Please try again later. (100)
This what I have done so far to try to fix the error:
1. Tried to download free applications from MAS and iTunes store. Both work.
2. Tried to download paid applications from iTS. Doesn't work.
3. Tried to download paid applications from iTS with same Apple ID but a different computer a a different location. Works.
4. Tried to delete /Library/Caches, ~/Library/Caches, ~/Library/Cookies, /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/NetworkInterfaces.plist and ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.storeagent.plist. Doesn't work.
5. Tried to log off MAS and iTS, to quit MAS and iTS, to log off and on my iMac, to restart my iMac. Doesn't work.
6. Tried to delete everything from /private/var/folders. Doesn't work
7. Tried to reinstall 10.6.8. Doesn't work.
8. Tried to delete Mac App Store, then install 10.6.6 and then install 10.6.8. Doesn't work
9. Tried to log in to my iMac as a different user, including as root user. Doesn't work.
10. Tried to edit/confirm my credit card information. Doesn't work.
I have not created a new Apple ID, nor have I tried to change location (from Iceland to another country). Anyway I am pretty sure it won't work since my problem seems to be restricted to my computer and not an individual user.
Should I perhaps format and then reinstall my hard disk from Time Machine as it was in last October? Seems to me a rather drastic way to fix this error.
Please help me if you can. Any help or suggestions (other than I've tried so far) are most appreciated. Please note that I am not a beginner at OS X although I am not a unix guru. As a matter of fact I have used Apple computers since 1984, starting with Apple iic :-)
