I know I'm waaaay off the ranch here but I'm hoping someone still might be able to help me.

I have a 6g 80GB iPod Classic. After upgrading to iTunes 11, somehow my iPod firmware became corrupted. It locked up everytime it was connected to iTunes and iTunes itself locked up so I had to reboot the PC. Took it in to the Apple store and they could duplicate the problem but had no idea how to fix it. They said the hard drive must be going (even though they admitted the diagnostics showed the hard drive was fine) and offered me 10% off a new ipod.

To make a long story short, I came home and tried everything under the sun to get it to work. Last resort was to migrate to the Rockbox firmware with the idea of restoring. Since this is a 6g iPod, I had to also install the emCore boot loader.

iTunes 11 doesn't recognize the ipod anymore so I loaded up older versions, starting at 7.4 (the version that came out with the 6g Classic). The older versions recognize the iPod and offer to restore, but then give me an error about finding the firmware (even when I shift-click to restore).

Thus, my question is if anyone has ever run into something similar to this and, if so, what did you do?

Thanks.
