Dec 29, 2012 1:54 PM in response to trulyhypnoticby PAHU,Canon has not provided a driver or application for 10.8.
There is no ICA driver either, so you won't be able to use Image Capture, unless the driver is included with the OS. I'm not on a Mac at the moment to check this so try connecting the scanner to the Mac and opening Image Capture. If there is a supporting driver then it will appear in this application.

As PAHU reminded me, my Canon Lide opens up Image Capture since I upgraded. The scans are still fine, just a slightly different way to get there.

Aug 28, 2013 3:10 PM in response to trulyhypnoticby Richard Sterner,Use the CanoScan OS 10.7 Driver for Mountain Lion
I downloaded the CanoScan driver for Mac OS 10.7 from Canon's web site, and it works with 10.8.4. I successfully Scanned with Photoshop CS6, Acrobat X Pro and Image Capture.
Go to:
- Select Operating System OS X v10.7 Lion
- Open Drivers
- Select LiDE 70 Scanner Driver Ver. 12.13.3
- You'll install and be forced to restart the Mac.
- Open Print & Scan in System Preferences.
- Click the "+" to add Printer or Scanner.
- Scroll down the list of devices and select "CanoScan LiDE 70"
- Click "Add"
You can scan right from the Print & Scan window:
- Select "CanoScan LiDE 70" and click the "Open Scanner..." button
