Movies purchased iTunes do not sync with video, when accessed using home sharing.

Do you have a similar problem playing the movie on the computer.

No there is no problem with the computer...also hter is no problem when viewing/listening to media from netflix.

Intermittent problems are often a result of interference. Interference can be caused by other networks in the neighbourhood or from household electrical items.

You can download and install iStumbler (NetStumbler for windows users) to help you see which channels are used by neighbouring networks so that you can avoid them, but iStumbler will not see household items.

Refer to your router manual for instructions on changing your wifi channel or adjusting your multicast rate.

There are other types of problems that can affect networks, but this is by far the most common, hence worth mentioning first. Networks that have inherent issues can be seen to work differently with different versions of the same software. You might also try moving the Apple TV away from other electrical equipment.

The problem is just with itunes homeshare media...movies. So you think the other media (from netflix nad utube, which is OK) would not have the same problem.  I will try istumbler.

    Thanks for your support.

I'll let you know how things go.

Netflix and You tube comes from the internet to your router then to the Apple TV, purchased content on your computer comes from the computer to the router to the Apple TV, they are different paths. They are also different resolutions, iTunes movies have far greater quality and therefore require better bandwidth.

Thanks, I was aware of that. I think I may hook up the Apple TV to the ethernet cable (directly to the router) and then get Itunes match thereby avoiding home share and wifi issues. The software iStumbler apparently is buggy and the MacOS Mountain Lion has some sort of comparable 'system check'. Its all a bit too much for me (technical) so maybe the direct connection, as mentionned, will take care of things for now.

    Your thoughts?

    Appreciating your assistance,

I have match and the ATV ethernet to the router and it rocks.  Certainly, in my humble opinion, the best set up but I always go wire over wifi if it doesn't get in the way!

Before I swiitch over to ATV ethernet etc. I suppose I should disable home sharing and wifi connect ? Any pointers for me?

No, if I remember correctly I just plugged it in.  I still have home sharing on and can stream if I want to.
