I had an idea several month back. Then today, I heard a rumor that Apple has teamed up with Intel to develop a watch running iOS. The rumor goes on to say that it will be about the same size as the Gen 6 nano. Now, I'm not totally sold on the idea of a stand alone watch as the latest numbers show that most smartphone users aren't using watches. However, my idea suddenly came to me again. If Apple designed a watch that used Bluetooth to sync with my phone, and was iMessage capable, would you buy it? I know I would. I can't tell you how's my times my iPhone has been sitting, charging, and I was somewhere else in the house/office. I still wear a watch and if I had a watch that would alert me and I was able to read my texts on my wrist, without having to get up, I'd pay for that convenience. Would you?

It is a very interesting product idea. I'm sure the thought are in Apple's mind, but nothing is sure before they make an official announcement, if there ever will be one.

Personally, looking into Apple's pattern of creating new products, they will. Why? The time is just right.

Basically everyone is using a watch. The digital watch hasn't made a success compared to the traditional one. The digital version have a lot of opportunities if you are able to create a product that's in balance with other hardwares such as the smartphone and tablet.

Todays digital watch is too isolated. An iWatch should be open and connected to others devices.

I think an even more enticing use for an iWatch is described here:

If Apple's iWatch had Siri, it would make a great remote for an iTV - one that could also be produced with Intel and its rumored television service. Nobody would ever have to hunt for a remote again!

In the shorter term, the iWatch could also control the current Apple TV, include a pedometer, receive iMessages and incorporate gps.
