Why did you drop it off with USPS if it was suppose to be shipped via FedEx? Secondly, how do you know it was suppose to be shipped via FedEx? Did you receive a shipping label for FedEx? If you received a shipping label for FedEx then why drop it off with USPS? If you didn't receive a return label and you're footing the bill to ship it, it shouldn't matter what carrier you use. I've shipped products back to Apple for years using UPS without any hassle.
Lastly, if you dropped off a computer (a high value item) with USPS, did you receive a receipt? A tracking number or delivery confirmation number? How about insurance value or registered mail receipt?
If you just "dropped it off" and shipped it first class mail with no special handling or delivery confirmation options attached to it, you'll need to work with USPS and hopefully they'll get the package traced and tracked for you.

USPS has contracts with UPS and Fedex to handle package delivery for them.
Did you get a tracking number when you mailed the package?
If USPS used UPS the tracking number will work on the UPS website.
If USPS used Fedex the tracking number will work on the Fedex website.
In either case it will work on the USPS website.
If you didn't pay for tracking then all you can do is wait and hope the package reaches its destination.
