Ever since I purchased it my mid-2012 MBA has had problems with Netflix. The most common freeze is a complete lock up and a funny sound kind of like a skipping record. The only way to address is it a hard reboot. It happens whether I'm using Safari or Chrome. All software is up to date. I even took the unit into the store and we did a complete reinstall but that didn't solve the problem. Could it be hardware-related?

If your problem is specific to Netflix and only Netflix then it's not a hardware problem, nor is it a browser problem if the issue occurs across multiple browsers. It's probably a Silverlight plugin problem, which is the browser plugin that is required for Netflix to work within your browser. Have you tried uninstalling and then reinstalling the Silverlight plugin?

Thanks for the reply. Uninstalling and reinstalling Silverlight didn't help. Neither did a full erase and clean software reinstall.

I took it to the Apple Store yesterday and they diagnosed a fault in the I/O Board. New part is ordered. We'll see if that solves the issue.
