What cable do I need to connect LaCie mobile drive (500GB) to fire wire port on PowerBook G4?

PowerBook G4, Mac OS X (10.5.8), 1.67 GHz Memory 2GB DDR SDRAM

    That all depends on whether you have Firewire 400, Firewire 800 or both types of port on the G4 and drive.

     

    Depending on the answer you will need a 400/400, 800/800 or 800/400 cable.

     

    If you don't know which is which have as look here.

     

    If the drive doesn't have Firewire you will have to use USB (and may encounter power issues if you don't use a mains supply to the drive or a USB Y cable).
