Q: Extend Verizon FIOS wireless network
I recently bought a new wireless-N router from Verizon and was attempting to have my Time Capsule version 1 extend the wireless signal. I want to have the TC connect to the verizon router via ethernet and then extend the wireless signal. However, my TC essentially crashes when I attempt to setup this way. I get a forever blinking yellow light and then the TC disappears from airport utility. The only way I have been able to get shown in airport utility again is by a reset.
When I attempt to extend the wireless network wirelessly, I get an error message saying that the wireless network (from the verizon router) cannot be extended.
I may be expecting too much of the TC. I want to use it as a wired router for my iMac and a NAS machine and as a wireless network extender; I dont know if I can eat my cake and have it too.
I am thinking that there must be a setting on the verizon router that I need to tweak in order to allow the network to be extended but I have not been able to find anything on the interwebs about it. Any help or observations would be greatly appreciated.
Happy New Year!
