iPhoto 9.4.2 won't recognize my cameras after the last 2 Updates. Can someone please help me? The preferences are set to open iPhoto when connecting camera.  Happy New Year Thank You Jon

Maybe - what camera? what happens? what doesn't happen? does the camera mount to the desktop? can you see it in image capture? do you have a card reader?

with so little information the best guess is to get the photos of the card somehow and import tehm into iPhoto and then use your camera to reformat the memory card

a best practice to is to never have any computer program (including iPhoto) delete the photos from the card but to import the photos and keep them and then after at least one successful backup cycle has completed and the reformat the card --  I use three very large (32 GB) cards in rotation so I do not reformat for typically a year or more giving me one more long term backup of my photos

Thank you for your prompt response.  I listed the camera as a Olympus SP570UZ and a KodakC875.  What happens is nothing.  The camera does not mount to the desktop.  I cannot see it in image capture as well.  No I do not have a card reader.  If I buy one will it still create events in iPhoto.

I never reformate the card and that is not the issue because both cameras are recognized by iPhoto 5.04 on my imac G5.  I have a work around provided by me from Apple and that is to import them into the iPhoto on the G5 then put them on the desktop and transfer to a flashdrive then put on the desktop of the MacBook then manually transfer them into iPhoto 9.4.2.  This is a lot of work considering that everything worked fine until the last 2 updates to iPhoto 9.4.2.  I think who ever did the programing for the updates forgot to support older cameras or it has now become Apple's policy not to support older cameras.  I reached out for help because I thought maybe others were having the same problems and maybe they found a solution rather than the card reader.  Thank you Jon

Once you have the photos imported use each camera to reformat the memor card for that camera

A card reader will handle events exactly the same as using teh camera does - but probably reformatting your cards will resolve teh issue

Hi LarryHN: Thank you very much and a happy New Year to you.  I did as you said and reformatted both cards. That worked for the Olympus but not for the Kodak.  I also used a new card and reformatted it for the Kodak.  It still won't work. Thank you very much for getting my Olympus up and running again!

iPhoto recognizes the Kodak C875 on the left side bar but gives this error message on the right:  The following file could not be imported.  The file is in an unrecognized format.

Below that are two boxes which are grayed out and surrounded by broken yellow lines. This is where the photos would normally be displayed.  The photos themselves are not visable they are gray and surrounded by that broken yellow line.  I've searched the discussions and it seems alot of folks are having similar problems with Kodak cameras.  Thank you for your help! Yes - there heve many recent issues reported with Kodak cameras - a card reader is a good workaround - you should be albe to find one for $15 to $20 dollars (or less)
