    There are some troublshooting steps for this here: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1559.  If these don't work for you, back up your phone and make an appointment at the genius bar at a nearby Apple store to have it looked at and possibly replaced.

    try following:

    1. Settings:
      Turn off bluetooth
    2. Settings--> General --> Cellular
      Turn off Celluar Data
    3. General-->Reset-->Reset Network Settings

    Phone will restart automatic.

    Hi - trying to find the orignal multi-page thread on this issue, but wanted to report that I had the same issue & tried all suggestions to fix, restore, etc etc and nothing worked. Went down to Apple Store today & they swapped out my phone with a brand new one. Said it was a hardware issue...

    This got my Wifi to come back on. Initially, it showed all of my networks, but it wouldn't let me connect, and now it just keeps searching for networks without ever finding anything. And I'm in my office, which has four different wireless networks running, so I know it should find something.

    No worries.. I had the same problem.. i was trying to fix it for about more than a week.

    Ok lets start.. (switch off ur phone. use a hair dryer and make the phone hot. just point the hair dryer on headset hole. wait for about one minute..  and you are done..

    switch on back..your wifi should be working fine now..

    Cheers!

    Great! But this is a iOS problem. After update to 6.0.1 this "greyed out wifi" begin. It must be a driver, for all of us with 4s, missing for the wifi module.

    My iPhone 4S was updated to iOS 6.0.1 now the wifi stopped working, it is gray out, I have checked every single website trying to find a solution, I have done the steps mentioned here in apple.com and still nothing, my guess is, that if I take to the store and since I got mine last year and it is out of the warranty they will tell me I pay to fix it or buy a new one, how funny, how could they say that when it is so clear that a "update" they did is the one the is breaking the phones... Oh Steve Jobs we miss you, I bet you wouldn't have allowed to deploy something without having done enough testing....

    Exatley? If this happend in iPhone 3g or even 3gs I can by it. But in 4S, this model is not even old.

    Thanks for your reply JessieMichels!!! I hope iOS 6.1.X will fix this and if not i will take my 4s to the support call center and MAKE them fix a new one. Hope everyone else will to.

    What is going on here?  Anyone have a real reason or solution to this?  I drove the three hours to my closest iphone store on Wednesday.  My wifi and bluetooth both have been "grayed out" and not working for weeks now.  The tech said that it was a problem in the phone and replaced it.  I watched him replace it and it worked wifi and all for about 4 hours.  Now both don't work again!  I drove down to Key West yesterday to the at&t store and they called tech support, still nothing.  What do I do now????  Seriousely another full day trip to Miami back to the iphone store?  For what another phone to dump on me?  Any suggestions out there?

    Did this begin after update to iOS 6.0.1? If so, there is NO wrong with our phones.  It is the iOS.
