Sorry LN , that is the answer I would expect from Microsoft , not Apple . I thought that Apple was all aout our personal wants .. My mistake .. I wont bother you with my personal wants an further .

By the way , for the benfit of others ,  i just found a simple solution at the bottom right hand corner of Iphoto . You can simply hit share and choose which method you would like to use to share ie mail , facebook , twitter etc .

    Thank you .

By email page I mean "new message" ..

In Mail? Then use the Photo Browser in the New Message window and drag the image from that to the mail message.

Sorry but you simply do not get it

Everyone here is a user just like you

No one here gives you and answer form Apple - you ONLY get answers for other iPhoto users who can tell you haw things work - noting from Apple - nothing can be fixed - nothing about how things should work - nothing about how you or we wish it worked or want it to work - very simply HOW IT DOES IN FACT ACTULLY WORK!

As to the share - certainly htat is a way to e-mail photos - but it has nothing to do with your question

Thanks for your help , but that is not what I want to do .. I really don't want to put pictures on my desktop .. I want to be able to do what I have been doing since I bought a mac , Drag and Drop to my new message page in email .

I guess I am just asking is there a way to get this working again the way it was ??

    Have a Happy New Year

Thanks LN , I just expected to be able to get things back to where they were .. I Did not mean to get your year off to a bad start

I guess I expected that there would be answers from clever people , I never expected to be told that " nothing can be fixed " . Again my apologies for being a bother .. Lets just leave it there . I guess if enough people want to change it , Apple will get around to it and I will think twice before I download any apple updates .

    Regards and HNY.

Actually, earlier in this thread, Terrence said that there was a difference between Drag&Drop and Exporting.  If Exporting wasn't the issue, then  Drag&Drop was and needed to be fixed.  So, it would appear, based on these statement that it is in fact possible to drag&drop in addtion to export.

Considering that most of us are saying here that we used to be able to drag&drop, and now we can't, we are wondering what the problem is.

You are telling us, repeatedly, that there is only one way, when we know in fact that we have done it by Dragging&Dropping.

Have a little patience and try to help, instead of giving us condescending, abbreviated answers and writing in capitals.

Now, Terrence, is it true, that we can fix the drag&drop method of exporting in iPhoto, or is the case that we can now only export using the file menu?

    Thank you for your assistance.

Yes - right now Drag and Drop is not working for many people and there is no reported solution so until something changes you need to use the workaround, export

It really is very simple - drag and drop used to work and does not right now - and there is a simple (and arguably better) workaround - your only choice is to use it (unless you can find a fix for drag and drop)

No one is saying that you never could drag and drop - you are saying that you can not now and the only known answer to that is as stated over and over

    use export

No one is saying that it should not be fixed. But is has not been and

the only known answer to that is as stated over and over

    use export

We are users exactly like you - we do not know what the problem is - we only know how to wrok around it until it changes

the only known answer to that is as stated over and over

    use export

    That is it

Have a little patience and try to help, instead of giving us condescending, abbreviated answers and writing in capitals.

I jst went to the very top of this thread and obviously you have a major problem recognizing lowercase and uppercase letters - None of my posts have any Capital letters (upper case letters) in them except for the first letter of a sentence as proper English requires

Although sometimes it seems to be needed to try to get through to certain  users who simply do not get it

    Have a great New Year

I'm unaware if any fix for D&D at this time as I cannot get anyone so afflicted to do the basic troubleshooting steps.

Haha.  I'm sorry, Terrence, and definitely not laughing at your frustration, just the situation.

It appears this thread has gotten a little long and off-track, so maybe a lot of us have taken things for granted sitautionally in regards to our systems.

I can tell you that I, personally, am not able to d&d multiple photos from an iPhoto album to the desktop or another folder outside iPhoto. (I can do one photo, but not mulitples)

I am, however, able to export photos via the menu bar.

I am running the lastest and updated version of Mountain Lion, including the lastest update of iPhoto.  I also use a late 2011 macbook air, and am using the air's trackpad.  I was able to use d&d until the past few months, I'm not sure when this problem first happened.  I only recently, over the holidays, have had time to address the issue.

Thank you, and everyone for your patience and help.

    As a Test:

Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'

Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?

    Yes, it's repeated here.

    Okay. Another test:

Create a new account (systempreferences -> accounts or Users & Groups on 10.7 and 10.8), make a new Library in that account, import some shots  and see if the problem is repeated there.

Larry, if you find yourself giving the same answer over and over, it may not be the other people that are thick. I think saying "it is a bug and you will have to wait" is actually a much better answer than "export". thank you for trying another aproach.

I found the same problem, one minute I'm using iPhoto, dragging and dropping and Exporting and copy/pasting and then next minute Nothing wants to move out of iPhoto. The ONLY thing that works for me is to restart (my Computer, not just iPhoto). I have to do this every 30-60 minutes so i'll be looking forward to a fix soon.

Nice to know I'm not alone.

-Hoping one day there will be a 3rd PC option as well as a 3rd party candidate.

    EdMelt

This thread is a year old and refers to an old version of iPhoto. Whatever glitch that was is long over. You have a different problem and if you want help best to make a new thread with full details of your issue.
