I can't figure why my iPhone 4S has no storage left. It's a 16GB version. 2.5 is reserved for the operating system. So i think I'm allowed to use 13.5GB. The biggest thing by far is the picture/camera file, which is only 2 GB. I Hit the "show all apps" button and all the other apps together don't add up to 1 GB. It's mostly a few simple games that my kids play. I have zero music, zero videos. I cleaned up email, including inbox, sent, trash. It's the latest up to date version. 6.0.1. Where is my other 10GB? I guess I'm missing something obvious. I have never used, and DO NOT WISH to use ITunes or ICloud. I have never sync'ed phone, and don't know how.

You may need to connect to iTunes as there is a misc. item called 'other' in the memory that can become corrupted and take up a lot of space. The only way to clean this up is to restore the phone in iTunes. It is only seen in the summary page when connected to iTunes.

10.9 is way too much. Should not be over 2 usually. For your pictures, I would transfer them to the computer. I use Picasa3 for this but you can use any photo management program. As for your contacts, I would suggest a seach on contact management of the forum. I have all my contacts in Google Contacts so they are independent of my phone. But, you would want them backed up somewhere and I don't remember if they are included in the phone backup. Once you have all of that safe, then I would do a backup and then do a restore and follow the prompts. I have only done that once when I had a large amout of 'other' and I did not lose anything. There are help articles on restoring your phone. Just do a search in this forum or on the search box at the top of the page. There are several threads that have discussed the 'other' problem. You could search those and see what others have said. At least you know the problem now. Good luck with getting this taken care of.
