No. Image Capture shows 2 drive icons, "No Name" with 1 item and "Untitled" with 522 items. I believe these correspond to the memory card, and the internal memory. When I click on either one in Image Capture, nothing appears in the image list.
In the Finder, "Untitled" has the icon of a memory stick. An additional drive "PMBPORTABLE" shows up, which has Mac and Windows versions of Sony's Picture Motion Browser, and a folder labeled "MACMODULE" containing the app and an installer, I assume.
When I access Untitled/DCIM/101MSDCF, it has a full list of JPEGs which I can open in Preview with no problem.
Hooking the camera up to a Windows machine causes no problems that I know of (it's my wife's camera).
BTW, the nature of the iPhoto hang is that even with the Sony disconnected, quitting and restarting iPhoto still causes a hang. I have to reboot the Mac to get iPhoto to show its existing library; all is well until this Sony is connected.
